I'm 27 years old and uncircumcised......and up until about 6-7 months ago I had no idea what smegma was at all. I started to notice the white substance, which I'm guessing is smegma based on what I've read. Why am i suddenly getting it now? I would wager my hygiene is better now than it was when I was younger. I'm sure I would have noticed this on my penis before. I basically have to get an erection in the shower to make sure it's all cleaned off with the skin pulled back as far as it can go. But then, after i check myself about an hour later, it returns as if I didn't even touch it in the shower. Most days, between going to the gym and work, I take two showers a day. Seems like its been coming back more and more lately and I have to use a wet towel or a baby wipe to get rid of it once and for all. Please help, I've read what limited topics I've found about smegma on the internet, and have heard all the basic things. This seems like it could be something else perhaps? thanks...

Well, apart from smiling at the thought that tha's a novel excuse for getting an erection, or euphemism for masturbating 'cleaning smegma', nevertheless I am inclined to agree with your final conclusion.

Anything that returns with the determination you describe may not be smegma at all, which is basically just a modest build up, if you don't wash. You clearly are washing, and it is clearly quite determined to return, and very quickly, if you're talking hours vs days.

Worth checking out: go see a doctor or clinic.

Thank you for your input. I've been dying to hear what others had to say about it. Any other place is go it's usually a matter of someone who didn't wash or pull foreskin back, but trust me, I am certainly doing both.

Which is why I recommend a visit to your doctor or clinic - always better to be careful, and any condition, if present, best treated early.

Good luck.

I've had the same symptoms as this as well.

You mentioned that you've been going to the gym which is the same for me and that is about the same time that the symptoms started, so that may have something to do with it which would sort of make sense.

Just wondering if you did go to the doctor in the end and if so, what was the advice they gave you?

I haven't been able to go yet ( i know i know) but as far as the gym is concerned.......I've been doing that for about 5 years now so I don't think it has anything to do with that, for me at least.
