Hi All,
I'm quite confused after reading so many messages about Lexapro.
I've been on 30mg of Lexapro (10mg 3 times per day) for about 6 months. Stress-wise and outlook, I feel great. However, in order to function without napping, yawning or feeling sleepy - I need coffee. Just absolutely dead without it.
Please understand, this is not an exaggeration: I track my calories like a *scientist*. I almost never (ever) take in more than 1500 calories a day. In a year, I've lost...... no weight! None. Nada. Zip.
How is this physically possible? A normal human being at 5'8", 142 pounds... at 1300-1500 calories a day should lose weight even if considered sedentary!
What's going on here?

Unfortunately I think this is just part of the anti-depressant war.
You need to take them to feel better but do they really make you feel better when you're tired all of the time and can't lose a pound? Most even diminish sex drive. These side effects are suppose to make you feel better??????
I've taken Paxil CR for several years. I've tried weaning myself off of it several times. I always end up nit picking at everything (one of the reasons I started taking them) so back on them I go. It's pretty bad when you can't stand yourself!
Several years ago I did manage to lose 48 lbs by eating one thing a day and never sitting still. Unfortunately, due to health issues, I cannot be as active as I once was so I have gained most back. I still do not eat hardly anything I just can't exercise.
I just feel anti-depressants are a no win situation....anyone else?

Weight is such a terrible way to gauge whether you're in shape or not. Because muscle weighs more than fat, you can be in really good shape but appear to be obese if you calculate your BMI using the formula to determine your obesity if you have a lot of muscle. Do you look good? Do you feel fit? I think that's more important. But yes, Lexapro can also cause some weight loss issues. Keep us posted.
