Hi everyone,

I am glad that everyone is still doing their part to try to help our group. I have recently been to my second dermatologist, and andreaed, he is VERY stubborn and i believe somewhat arrogant as well. I live in Canada, and he seems very convinced that no such treatments exist, or any existing treatments are very risky and will guarantee scarring that is worse than the steatocystoma multiplex problem.

I am still doing my part to research about the Vein Hook methods, but andreaed, I am interested in what you had to say about the doctor in Boston who is interested in helping us out, Dr. Rox Anderson. I have not heard of him, but do you know where I too can email him, and if i get any more information, since I am closer to Boston than you are, I will get back to everyone about it.

Thanks a lot

Hi janawade i was wondering how you went with the fraxel laser
procedure?Did it help at all and did you have to be put to sleep? Also how long did the procedure take and are you off work long? Thanks

Hi MedSeeker. Gosh what are they like these stubborn dermatologists. They just don't realise the psychological impact of this condition. The E:Mail address for Rox Anderson is ****. I have just mailed him now to thank him for his response and explain I'm very encouraged that he has treated SM before with good results and using two different methods. I'm sure his compassionate rates would apply to you too if you ask. I really need to win the Lottery badly! The first thing I would do is get on a plane to see Rox Anderson!! Good luck.

Hey andreaed,

I was just wondering how long it took for Dr. Anderson to respond to you? I was searching on the internet, and emailed him at a different email address before I was able to review your response with the "bdammin" email address...so perhaps he doesnt even respond to his personal address (the "rranderson" one)? Maybe I will try the email address you mentioned if he still doesn't respond within the next week or so.

Will keep you guys posted.

Hi Jenny

I am in London UK, not far from Swindon.

I have had Chinese Herbal Medicine and acupuncture treatment.

Not too successful but the Doctor did manage to take some of the cysts out. There is no scarring but as I am Asian and have darker skin pigments therefore there is some un even skin tone left. (Where the cysts where the skin appear to be a little darker than the rest)

If you found anything helpful, please reply to me here

Hi Medseeker. Just wondered if you'd heard anything from Rox Anderson? He took a while to reply to me and I e:mailed a couple of times but he apologised saying he had been on holiday. I e;mailed the RR Anderson address. I think the bdadmin one was to arrange treatment but I am unable to travel to the States on the separate occasions one month apart. I only wish I could. He has suggested someone in Germany who might be able to perform the same treatment so I need to look into that as that is less than a 2 hour flight away. I've just come back from Spain on holiday. A bit traumatic getting the old bod out on the beach but it had to be done!

Hi people, I'm from Singapore.. just happened to stumble across this forum. Used to discuss this in Healthforum with people like Wingster and Andreaed, but the site just died so suddenly..

Anyway, I have something to share here, hope it might be helpful.. Have any of you heard of Lac-Hydrin? Its a prescription medicine that contains 12% lactic acid and its for external application.. I understand that SM is very closely related to another condition named Eruptive Vellus Hair Cysts.. people claim that SM is a variant of that..

So, while searching for information regarding EVHC, I came across an eMedicine website and their findings stated that patients showed significant improvement while using Lac-Hydrin on affected areas. When i looked at the photos of EHVC, it really looks just like SM.. it is so alike, so let us be hopeful.. =)

By the way, I have already ordered the Lac-hydrin from my local pharmacy.. will report back with the results.. let us pray for all of us.. =)

hey Eddiee, i'm also from singapore.

I've been suffering from SM since after puberty and have been wrongly diagnosed several times (of ezcema, heat rash etc) before being correctly diagnosed.

Regarding the cream Lac-hydrin, is it possible to buy it from over the counter pharmacy or must it be doctor-prescibed?

I'm from singapore too. Eddie, can you tell me where you can get the Lac-hydrin?

Hey Andreaed,

Sorry for the delayed response - I have been busy with personal matters.

I did get the chance to email Rox Anderson, but I emailed him at the badmin website. I got a reply from one of his assistants, but it was blunt and it was obvious that they were not going to help. The reply was basically "Dr Anderson would need to see you in person for anything to happen"...a very ambiguous reply considering the information and questions I emailed them with.

I sent out a second email for clarification and further questions, but I have given up on expecting a response. I don't know - I will let you know if they respond again, but it has been at least a couple months now...

Perhaps in the future I will try emailing him again, but at the moment I am working on some other possible leads...

Sorry again for the late response Andread, I"ll keep you posted on any further findings, as I am still searching for the answer. Let me know if you have better luck with Anderson or even the specialist in Germany!

Hi Medseeker. Good to hear from you. It's good to know more than one of us is searching for an answer to this horrid disease because I'm sure no-body else is. That's the downside really; as it is not life-threatening and so rare, it's not worth anyone doing any research. My hope is the new free electron laser that Rox Anderson is developing which melts fat under the skin without harming the upper layers known as selective photothermolysis, although this is a few years away yet. I'm really disappointed at the response you've had from one of his assistants. The e:mail he sent me was really supportive and helpful. I wonder if he himself actually got to see your E:Mail. You might be best trying on the RR Anderson e:mail address which is where I sent mine. It was interesting to read eddieee post about Lac-Hydrin. I'm interested to see what happens there as I cannot work out how it can help as the cysts are deep under the skin and I don't know how anything topically applied to the skin can work but we shall see. Please keep in touch with any developments. Bye for now.

Hi people, forget about the Lac-Hydrin.. I've been using it straight for a few weeks already but no improvement seen.

Maybe all of us can work together and try the other topical retinoids like Tazorac, Retin-A, Renova, Avita etc.. and report back any results we experience.. From what i know Tazorac is not available in Singapore, so we gotta depend on Chinajumbo, Medseeker or Andreaed to try it..

For more info, just type Eruptive Vellus Hair Cysts in Yahoo and visit the eMedicine website.. That is where i got to know about the above mentioned drugs and their results with EVHC..

Like what Medseeker said, we really gotta depend on ourselves for a realistic treatment solution since this is such a rare skin problem. So what we can do now within our means is to apply the Trial & Error method and see if these topical retinoids work. If we dont try, we will never find out..

Hi medseeker i heard back from rox andersons assistant, ill try to send you these attachments.A midinfrared laser destroys the cysts under the skin, better results than the co2 laser and was used on a guys face who had severe hydrocystoma, looks exactly the same as steato, but cysts are in the sweatglands. This laser does not cut the skin but destroys the cyst ender the skin.If you want attachment you can email me direct as i dont know how to do it on this site

Dr Rox Anderson sent me some invaluable info about a laser
that has treated facial cysts with great success. The laser used
was a mid infrared diode laser 1450 nm,it destroys the cysts
under the skin without cutting the skin unlike co2 laser, this laser
combined with needle aspiration were prove to be effective. After years of research this laser and needle aspiration i think are the best method.Im in
Australia and cannot find anyone who has this laser, good luck.

Hi All
I too suffer from this annoying disease from age 13, living in India

I had undergone a Homeopathy treatment for Four months and I started to see new CYST not coming up. Also the size of the existing ones go down. Because I could not continue this medicine for a longer time as I travel frequently, I still have the cysts. After I stop the disease it is increasing. So decided to start it again.

Meanwhile I did CO2 laser with a Cosmotologist on the Face and scalp.
Good results. Little scar, but better than the cyst.

If any guys in US Europe don't have enough money please come to India and take CO2 laser treatment. It is Very cheap. The Cosmotologist I go is Dctor stidied in United states. So don't worry about the Quality.

It took 10000 Rupees for doing on face aand scalp.
In dollars, it is less than $250.
