I have gas reflux, bloating stomach and difficulty of breathing for 8 years. I went to gastro doctor, taken all kind of meds. Took CT scan , ultrasound etc.... doctor didn't know the cause of it. But, here is the answer for my problem, I take a cup of soy milk that i bought at costco every morning and I am still taken it now. I stopped all the meds because it didn't work at all. If anyone have this problem please try this method, it will help your problem. It doesn't hurt to try. Believe me if you already went to the doctor and nothing really helps you then try my method. I had suffered a lot with this and I know how it feels and i do not want anyone to suffer like me for 8 yrs . I hope it helps all of you that have this problem.

Laura, it is actually caused by stomach acidity, with all the common symptoms I have I relation to everyone who posted, I decided to go look for a proton ion inhibitor, zantac, nexium, anything that will cause the stomach to produce less acid. Its day one of my treatment and I feel a difference. I felt that I should write to all who share my ailment, it could help... It is hard for doctors to diagnose this, the person who said your self diagnosis is better should be appluaded, no body knows better than you about what you are going through, as we are all God fearing people, if it wasn't for the wonderfull workings of the lord, I would have never found this thread, I've been sick for almost six months now, first time I feel a change. God bless you all.

Hi I am a 50 yr. old female and I first had this problem about 6 years ago. My stomach started bloating on me to where it go really hard to breath. I was in so much pain and also having the flu at the same time I was doing a lot of coughing. I was losing weight and my clothes were getting to tight to even put them on. My Dr. sent me to the hospital in KC. I had at the time what they thought was a aneurysm and said I was not in-operate able. so going into a comma for 12 days and a transfusion . They gave me 5 yrs. to live. Well it has been 6 yrs and I moved to Iowa. The same thing happened about 3 weeks ago. They immediately put me in the hospital and again ran so many test read all my old records because I brought the whole file with me on everything they have done etc. on me in the past. So after many test etc. 2 Dr's. finally concluded that I am having many muscles spasms in my stomach and I have pendichulitous not spelled right but it means having strokes in your stomach in the fat. Which dies off and causes bleeding and could cause some type of trauma to the organs that it is attached to. That is very rare and they are still learning from it. But I have all the same symptoms as all you but because of the flu 6 yrs ago the fat that had a stroke inside bleeds off to form a hematoma which burst because of the coughing which caused a rush of blood against my pancreas to cause me to be a diabetic instantly. Anyway the Dr's. Told me there is really nothing they can do for a person in this condition. Only relax and exercise. So I hope the best for everyone out here. And I hope none of you have what I have but same symptoms. Sorry for the spelling.

First of all,If you had to much stomach acid you would be going to the bathroom all day long.Maybe your problem is that you dont have enough stomach acid and you food does not digest so it just sits in your stomach and rots and that causes the bloating and the rotten food backs up into your throat and the dexilant that the doctor gave you makes you have even less acid because it decreases the acid.Your stomach acid decreases as you get older. Most people that are told that they have to much acid really dont have enough acid in their digestive tract. The doctor should test you to see is it is to much acid or not enough. If it is not enough acid than all these meds that they are giving people for acid reflux is contributing to the problem if your acid count is low.

I took a peek at this site because I've experienced the same thing and wanted to see what others have said.  Yet I have done something in the past that worked.  The trouble is that I got overconfident and went back to my old ways.

What I did last time that worked was to eat a diet of ONLY vegatables and meat.  Breakfast?  An egg and a plate of broccoli.  Lunch?  A piece of chicken and a plate of green peas.  Supper?  Well, you get the idea.

I remember clearly feeling like I could breathe again when I did this.  My stomach seemed somehow calmer too.  At the moment it feels tight and going to the bathroom only helps it to subside a bit.

The one problem that I did have with this approach was that I dropped a ton of weight.  A had lots of energy and felt great but I wasn't eating enough calories.  I started adding brown rice drizzled with olive oil to my diet and that helped me put back some weight.

Stay clear of alcohol and coffee, as well as sugary foods.  Take vitamin supplements (but don't exceed the recommended dose).  Get a juicer and juice some carrots or cucumbers to get enzymes into your system.  Also, consider taking over the counter digestive enzymes with your food.

Anxiety I think it part of this but it is indeed cyclical as well.  If you eat foods that will give your stomach a break (unlike junk food that wreaks havoc on your body) you will feel more at ease which will in turn help you to be more relaxed.  Do some yoga - get yourself a video and do it for a while.  It does help.  Watch funny movies and shows.  Stare at the ceiling and smile (this is a physiology trick for putting yourself into a good mood).  And make sure to exercise.  Your body is more likely to eliminate waste and toxins if you get some exercise.

That's all I've got.  Hope that helps some of you out there.  I'm trying to get back into this routine myself.

For the longest time I had this issue, but for myself, I think I've solved it..

I considered the following:
- Allergies
- Heart Issues
- Reflux/GERD
- Hiatal Hernia

(My symptoms were basically shortness of breath, pain in chest, etc..)

Anyway, what I've discovered was that this chronic was all basically due to stress and working on the computer everyday, which creates cramps and nerve issues through out your body.  (the fact that this had a role was a surprise to me)

It is also compounded by Gastritis from drinking, and a small amount of actual GERD..

Anyway, to maintain, my solution:

- Stand up desk for the computer
- One Prilosec a day

i would bet you have a hiatal hernia i have all the same symptoms you described me perfectly good news is you could find a chiropractor who understands this and pull your stomach back into place. a hiatus hernia is when the stomach pushes up thru the hiatus wich is the hole in your diaphram were your esophagus connects to the stomach and it puts pressure on your lungs all the anxiety comes from a nerve on your stomach called the vagus nerve when the stomach moves it stimulates it and causes all these symptoms
