I can 'hear' this same noise in my jaw where it connects to my skull.. When I chew or open my mouth wide I can hear what I describe as same noise as plastic crinkling or pop rocks, which is odd because it's coming from my mouth hah. I feel like something is missing, maybe cartridge I'm not sure.. I've always had a weak jaw, maybe it's not aligned anatomically right but recently I've been experiencing this and it is unsettling, especially because the noise is eerily unknown..

Mine has sounded like that for over 60 years and I never thought about it or worried over it. I figured hinges squeak, why wouldn't hinges in your body make noises too? It just didn't bother me.

Usually people can't hear them just you. my mother passed at 91 and she said all I hear is "crackata crackata when I move it drives me crazzy" She had arthritis. Celebrex worked for years then it stopped working, she stopped taking it.

I have the same problem and also have a straight neck. My xray shows my head is sitting on my spine crooked. The atlas bone is the first bone in the spine and when it is out of place you may hear crunching sounds. I am currently seeing an Atlas Orthogonal doctor and feel a little relief so far, look into it maybe it will help.

I'm a 28 years old male who just started hearing a 'pop' or 'crack' in the neck. It started out of nowhere while I was sitting in front of my computeer. I turned my head left and heard a cracking sound, then right and it cracked too. Now it makes this pop sound any time I turn my head on any side. Is distressing and worrying. Other people can hear it too. I've been having this for 1 week. No improvement. X rays show nothing. Didn't suffer from any neck injury during my life. MRI planned in 3 weeks. While the doc say the sound might be produced by bones touching, I have the feeling it is due to some sort of tendons coming from my shoulder / shoulder blades. If I lay in bed on my back, keep my neck aligned and not movig, but titling my whole body on each side, the crack / clicking sound will pop. Really wierd. No pain, no grinding sound or sand sound. It's a low click / pop sound. I was in intense emotional stress just the day it started... Could it be related ? Who knows... Still hopeless now and trying to live with it but very hard to tolerate due to the fact that any move of my head from side to side will make the sound (and it's quite loud in my head). Trying deep neck muscles exercices.

I have the same thing. Cracking, popping, grinding in my neck and my skull constantly. I also have hundreds of floaters that look like bullseye targets that float by themselves or clump together or form long worm like things, flashes in my right eye, starburts, after images, glares, halos, astigmatism, when I squint I see hundreds of bubbles that look like dust, i can see the reflection of my eye in most glass surfaces, I see things moving in my eye in those reflections, i can feel something moving in my eye, and i have a lot of pain and burning in my eyes. I am praying that I find out what this is soon as it is getting worse.

Hi, i have the same problem with my neck, its comes from the upper part of the cervicals spine, some Times the cracklin comes few seconds after i'v moved my head, its realy in the upper part, most of my searchs appears like its an occiputo-atlanto-axial instability, the principals joints : the transverse and liar ligaments are flexed and stretched and dysfonctioning wich makes bad mouvements when the head is moving, the upper cervicals from the occiputo-atlanto-axial c0 to c3 are 55℅ of head moving so that why its cracklin popin and grindin, for some people its a syndrom not justified by any trauma, for others like me its a post traumatic injury, i'm sad that happend to me because that's cause lot of symptoms, like headaches dizzness neck pain and some neurological désagrément .

Google Hatha yoga for neck and shoulder pain. Do this every day. It has helped me so much. Stay active and workout, stretch, and get your blood pumping. It will take away some of the neck pain.

I have the same issue before and it is related to anxiety and depression. It all started when I lack sleep or having trouble sleeping. I suggest you see a psychiatrist or pyschologist for this matter. When the doctor gave me meds the noise went away. When i didnt take the meds after relocating, it all came back.

i have this issue as well.

this could be the beginnings of skeletal flourosis. this happens often because of all the flouride in the tap water, which is placed there to dumb down the population.

also, it could be the beginnings of multiple sclerosis, because we are injected with many metals at birth, including mercury. hg denudes nerves and damages myelin (fatty cerve cell covering.. works like the rubber in an electrical cord).

i know a not-md is supposed to say "this is not medical advice" or something. but this is medical advice. the straight dope. we're being poisoned and this is the result.

also, many of those in mono-cropping areas of the world have magnesium deficiency due to mineral depletion in the topsoil. it stops muscle spasms.
