This is all interesting. I have been having the same head pains and I just started drinking vitamin water a couple of weeks ago which is when the pains started. Since reading this I will discontinue the drink and see if they go away. I don't drink soda, or caffiene, or anything with aspartame. Wish me luck.

Hi. I'm 21 and I have been having severe migraines for maybe about 5 years or more.. I can't really remember when they started. I sometimes get that shooting pain as well. It sometimes is followed by tingling in my limbs. I went to the doctor for it a few years ago when I thought I was going to pass out from it, and I was feeling really pukey. The doctor didn't seem to concerned and just told me to make a journal of what gives me my headaches. I started to notice when I was going to get my headaches. I think some of it might be connected to my tonsils. But I'm not sure, and I know that it is not from that all the time. I still don't understand why I feel numb when I get them. Medicine never helps me. The only thing that I have found to work about 50 percent of the time is Sun Breeze Balm by Sun Rider by applying it to my temples, my forehead, the back of my neck and under my nose. Also taking a really hot shower, and sleeping sometimes cure it. These are the only things that ever worked. If anyone else knows about what this problems is please notify me.

"The doctor didn't seem to concerned and just told me to make a journal of what gives me my headaches."

Hmmm.....Doctor, I'm having these headaches and just can't figure out why.

So make a journal of what gives you your headaches.

Oh, thats my problem! I need to write it down so that I don't forget!....Well now that I've written it down and can remember why I get my headaches, I'm gonna get on a website to seek out why I get my headaches.

This Doctor and patient are a match made in heaven!

I've had my pain as early as I can remember, (about 4-5) is when it started. When you’re that young, it’s hard to describe the pain- all I could say is that it felt like a hammer hitting my brain. The pain only lasted for a couple seconds, But the pain was very intense, and could stops you in your tracks. As I got older the pain followed. Sometimes it would be a couple of days, and sometimes a couple of months, but the pain always seemed to find me. I’m 32 now and still have the pain (in my brain). I've had x-rays, MRI's, and Cat-scan's, but nothing was found. The pain doesn't seem to be localized, it can hit from top of the head, to the side. I've been on medication, but noting stops it. The pain is so intense that it can bring me to my knees. My eyes close, and all I can do is hold my head, hoping for it to go away. And as fast as it came, it disappears. So this has been a life long pain, not sure what it came from, or how I got it. All I can do is hope it doesn’t happen when I'm driving. If anyone can give me an answer to what it can be please e-mail me at: ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed **

Hey, guys! Glad I found this forum! I feel I identify w/ at least a few of you! And if this following post seems familiar to some of you, it's because I just posted a variation of this as a question on Yahoo! Answers.

My pain just started today. It only lasts for about a second, and the pain isn't all that bad. It's barely noticable for me. But it comes back every 10 minutes, or so (except for this instance, it's been more than 10 minutes [more like half an hour] and still hasn't come back).

I noticed a user posted something about computers being linked to this pain. I feel that might be my problem. I've been on the computer since 11:30 A.M. PT (it's now 7:09 PT). Plus, even though I'm far-sighted, I don't wear my glasses when I'm online. Even though, as I mentioned, I don't need glasses to read up close, it could be a contributor to the problem.

Another user mentioned caffeinated drinks; I drink A TON of diet coke, even when I'm not thirsty. It's not that I have a craving for it, I just grab it out of boredom when I'm online surfing the Internet.

Given my history of frequent headaches, I was a bit worried about this. If anyone could tell me if there's a connection between the two, please do. Thank you.

I'm only 14, turning 15 in four days, so I hope it's not something major that could have an impact on my life.

I too have experienced these short sharp bursts of pain in my head. They just sort of make me say 'arghhh', clutch my head and close one eye! I feel like an id**t! And i think others think I'm overreacting because its lasts for about 5 seconds! Good to know others are experiencing the same thing and its not serious. I was a bit worried I must say. I dont get any other migranes or headaches really, unless I've been drinking copious amounts of champagne! I bet it is something to do with mobile phones, lord knows what they are doing to us all!

I've experienced those sudden outbursts of pain in the right side of my brain for as long as I can remember. It comes, hurts really bad making me clutch my head in plain, lasts a few seconds then melts into a tingle running down just above my ear. The thing is that I'm only fifteen and this is scaring me sh*tless. It doesn't have a connection with my period nor does it manifests when someones speaks on the phone. I didn't find a patern with these ephemere headaches and I'm in full panick mode. Please help?

As said previously becareful mixing symptoms together as different things couple be happening. One main reason for headaches is lack of hydration and nutrition, be sure to get both of plenty. Another reason is to much caffine, then one day you suddenly decide i dont wanna drink coffee or soda or both it can cause headaches, your body will become reliant to it and random pains will occur. Another reason is your eyes, if you have bad eyes then it can cause headaches even migrains. Your eyes dont even have to be that bad, things real far away could be blurry and you never thought about it, for instance, somebody who is driving, looking at the road ahead and reading signs then going back to looking at there radio or phone a lot, back and forth, causes your eyes to come in and out of focus causing to much strain and in turn pains. Another problem and a serious one is bleeding of the brain, it can be caused by the most head injuries. As for one individual that had a car accident and rolled there vehicle with minor injuries GET CHECKED OUT. I had an accident and hurt my head pretty bad, no problem with the brain, i bleed from the nose for a couple days and my ears were black had check up and it was minor other problems that would wear off but, on the other hand my niece fell about 5 feet off a playground she is 8 and hit her head, had a little bruise no big deal. Then about 2 days later she talked about her head hurting REAL bad like sharp pains in the same side she fell on, never thought nothing of it, then a couple days later she said her vision was getting blurry espically bright colors. Took her to an eye dotcor and he said her eyes were perfect to take her to a medical dotor, so my sister did. Come to find out she had a small ammount of blood in her brain, a brain hemorrhage.

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this because I have not read every post but for those of you that get a sharp pain to the right side of the face/head that usually lasts a few seconds you probably have Trigeminal Neuralgia. You need to see a Neuralogist and will be prescribed an anti-convulsant drug. This will be a god send. This should take most of your pain away.

I experienced the same pain and was in great fear of the pain, but my doctor said that the pain was just pinched nerves possibly caused by sleeping in an ackward position and gave me muscle relaxers, which worked very well.
