This very thing has been happening to me for about four years, off and on with no apparent trigger. It happened to me at the dentist's office one day and as I explained it to her and the staff (who'd come in for a look), they offered lots of suggestions, but nothing definative. One mentioned MSG as a possible cause and we agreed that I'd read up on MSG and read labels carefully on ALL foods, and ask at restaurants if their food contained any MSG. I do believe we've found the culprit!! When I do not eat processed foods, or am very diligent at which ones I do consume, I do not get the swollen spots. If I eat what someone else has cooked (esp. a casserole), or get lazy and buy something processed, then I will get them. Restaurants aren't so bad, as I usually try to stick with fresh veggies and no condiments. Here is a link to a chart of additives that contain, or potentially contain, MSG: ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***
I've also noticed I simply feel better all around when I don't eat processed foods, and I've completely eliminated diet sodas from my diet. Don't want to preach, but we have to be diligent at taking care of our own health. The food manufacturers, medical establishment, and even our governments are too tied to the cash, and don't care what happens to us (with the exception of my dentist). And remember, just because something such as MSG is "natural" doesn't mean it's safe. All mushrooms are natural, some are deadly. Wishing everyone good health and good luck!

I have been doing some research and would like to know if any one has seen a doctor that has excluded the following. I have some good medical resources and according to them this is Edema related to the lymphatic system. Edema can happen as a result of an adverse reaction to a medication, stress (yeah as in psychotic), lymphatic system issues, coronary heart condition, kidney and liver disease. It seems to me that any health care physician would need to do blood work, urine work and so on in order to properly diagnose this condition. As I type my right foot is in pain and I can't hardly walk. I also got very itchy last night.

Stress reduction has also helped a lot. Unfortunately its hard to do sometimes in the world we are living in but its worth the effort.

I have had the same symptoms: my heel, my feet, my lip, my wrists in the past month. In all cases itches, then swells then subsides. It must either be a virus, an allergy or a possible organ like kidney or liver malfunctioning. If you find out what it is ***this post is edited by

Like many of the earlier posts I went to my allergist and he performed many tests without identifying the problem. He was as puzzled as I was and one time I visited him, my lip was swollen so he go to see a symptom first hand. He thought that the Candida diagnosis might have some merit. However, I wasn't aware of the Candida diet until recently. I've just started it and will let you know if it works.
