For the last six months I have been having sever swelling of my legs, ankles, and feet. My calves were so swollen about four months ago that they actually started leaking fluid. I freaked out and went to my doctor immediately that morning. He told me to see a RA doctor. I saw the RA doctor who said that wasn't his specialty. I needed to see a cardiologist. I saw my doctor for that, (I was diagnosed and hospitalized three years ago with afib.) He ordered a eeg and a ekg that were both normal, except for my afib hadn't gotten any worse. He then did bloodwork to see if maybe it was my kidneys. The results came back that I was consuming too much salt. Imagine that, I don't even use a salt shaker and never have. However, I cut back on as much salt as I possibly could and drank a lot of water. The water is something I know I wasn't drinking enough of. He then said he wanted to retest me in two weeks. Well, that bloodwork came back that I no longer had the sodium problem, but my protein was low. LOL The only thing is, I hurt so damn bad. I also saw a surgeon because I have a lot of broken veins and my regular MD thought that might be the problem. If you just touch my legs they hurt so bad. He wrote me a prescription for the stockings. OMG, I can barely get those on or off. I scream when messing around with those. Another thing about how this all came about is I had pneumonia this year in February. I was in the hospital for six days, so it was pretty bad I guess. I have a certain doctor that I see every month and always get weighted. I actually gained 21 pounds in one month. Imagine that. I couldn't believe it could be done. When I went back the next month I had lost 20 pounds. Cant believe that could be done either, but the swelling is that bad. I am now up out of the regular weight I have always weighted, 15 pounds. Its all water weight. I am on or I will say, was on 2, 40 mg Lasix a day. They have now cut me down to one because they aren't working. I feel like that is an awful lot of doctors to go through and not know anything. I think I have rambled on enough about all of the signs and symptoms. If anyone can help me find out what is wrong with me, please share it. This is my first time on this site, but all I have is hope now. One last thing I guess is I did find something under pulmonary that seems to fit my description perfectly. I still have a shadow on my lung since I had pneumonia. I go for a four month checkup on Aug 1st. Friday I get my chest xray done. Maybe the pulmonary doctor is who I really needed to see all this time. Thanks , Lou Ann
