Hello, I'm 42 years old and now 4 weeks post op with a tonsillectomy due to chronic throat issues and tonsil stones. All this time I've had my bf checking my throat progression as I've gone through this horrible healing process and finally decided to look at my throat two days ago. I can finally see that it's my misshapen, swollen uvula is the reason for the constant, odd sensation I have in the back of my throat! My doctor says it's swollen, and yes it is...but it's also not shaped the same. I can feel it flapping or sticking when I talk, and if I'm lying down and put my chin to my chest it blocks my breathing. I even researched that the tonsillectomy could affect my taste, so I asked my ENT he said "No, that's rare"...IT'S AFFECTING MY TASTE!! What's worse is that I am a baker, so I need my tastebuds!! I am stressing about this and I pray that by Thanksgiving, this will become just a memory because if not I will NOT be a happy camper when I contact my ENT.

Hello, guys.
It may be helpful to focus on things that can help support your healing and overall health, such as staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, and eating a healthy diet. You can also try using saltwater gargles or throat lozenges to soothe any discomfort or irritation in your throat.
Remember that healing from a tonsillectomy can take time and every person's recovery is different. It is important to be patient and take care of yourself during this process.
