Hi, I have a severe uterus bleeding, which I can’t control. I talked to my doctor about this, and he said that the best option is hysterectomy. The only thing I didn’t decide yet, is to do TAH or SAH. Any suggestions?

Hello, I had supracervical abdominal hysterectomy (SAH) last year because of fibroid that grew on my uterus. It wasn’t big, so I did the partial operation. I took only my uterus out, and remained cervix and ovaries. Doctor said that maybe I should also take the rest out, but I didn’t, because I think SAH has many benefits compared to TAH. For example, after SAH, I kept my sexual responsiveness, which I couldn’t after TAH. Also, the operation bleeding and risk of infection were smaller this way. The only two things that are worse with partial hysterectomy, are that I still have a risk of cervix cancer and may continue to have a small menstrual flow. I don’t know if you tried to control your bleeding with hormones, it may help.

I had a TAH and I can tell you that sex is much better..Im overly wet during sex. I still have my ovaries though. I think it just depends on the individual. I also have friends who have had a TAH and their sex life is better or didn't change.
