About 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with having excessive fatty tissue surrounding my tailbone. It was visible and sometimes tender. The swollen area is a circle about 2 inches wide right in the middle of my lower back - on my tailbone. Lately, I have been doing exercising, including situps and it is now painful, and hurts to touch. Should I go to the doctor and have it re-evaluated? Could the fatty tissue turn into some sort of tumor or progress to something more serious? What type of diagnostic testing could be done to get an accurate diagnosis of my tailbone pain? I had a cousin die from osteosarcoma (cancer in lower back) and I worry about this. If it was cancer at the beginning, I wouldn't be typing this note now, but I worry about what could develop. Please advise! Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer this topic.
