I have recently began experiencing some discomfort in my testicles. The weird thing about this pain is that it only occurs when I am laying down and occasionally when I am sitting. I can't really describe the pain or what it feels like but it often keeps me up late at night. The only way I have found to relieve the pain is to masturbate which only relieves it slightly and not for a long period of time. Does anyone have any idea what this might possibly be?

You must see the doctor when you notice even a minor pain in your genital area. The painful testicles could be due to even a small injury, but also could have some other underlying causes, such as some infections, inflammations and such.
If your testicles were hurt in some way, the pain should go away on its own. How much does this last already? If its been only a day, you wait a day or two longer and if the pain persists, you visit the doctor. But let it be for the weekend.
Have you examined your testicles as well? Have you noticed something strange, like some small lumps in the scrotum, or just anything that looks different and could cause you pain? Severe, one-sided testicular pain that comes on suddenly can be caused by twisting your testicle, which is accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
There are also some infections of the testicles such as epididymitis and orchitis, but these are also occuring with some other symptoms such as fever, abnormal discharge, and painful or frequent urination, and also your testicles could be swollen.
You should firstly examine your testicles, and then on Monday you just visit your doc.

It would be grea to know how long you have had this pain and when you first noticed it. You might recall some sort of injury or sprain etc. you had that you forgot about. If the ain does not go away within a week or so I would sch. a doc visit.

This is going to sound stupid but...what type of doctor should I see. My GP is a somewhat attractive female so I don't like talking to her about this stuff too much.

That's not a stupid question at all. The type of doctor you would want to see would be a urologist. Your GP should be able to refer you to one but you need to talk to her so that she knows what is going on.
Best of luck and if you have any other questions please ask me.
