Hello,
I have had a tight throat and problem swallowing when I lay down. This especially happens when I try to sleep at night. I also have an issue with breathing sometimes.

I have a history of coughing and sometimes I choke on my flem.

How should I get this type of problem checked out?

I stopped smoking 4 years ago.

Hello Healthy,

Does it just happen when you lay down and at night? I'm wondering if it could be allergies and when you lay back it makes it worse. I've heard that some people are allergic to the the dust and mites from their mattress. I would go to an ear nose and throat specialist to have it checked out. Keep us posted on your progress and good luck.

Actually, you might want to check on acid reflux. I have a lot of the same issues, with cough, flem, etc, and when I started taking acid reducer, most of them went away.
