I am 40 years old and have severe spinal stenosis in my neck and lower back,I am having a total thyroidectomy due to cystic thyroid and a 4 vertabra metal fusion in Oct. My thyroid levels are on the low end of the chart but not low enough for medication,in 8 months I have gainednd of exe ki 50lbs dueto the fact tht my life has become very sedintary due to my back issues.I am very worried about weight gain after my thyroidectomy because I will be unable to do kind of exercise due to the back surgeries I will have during and anoher lowerback surgery that is to be done asap after I heal somewhat from the neck and thyroid surgery,I also want to mention the neck surgery will be the 3rd I will have had..Any answers will be very appreciated.

I wsh I could have an answer I had C6 C7 fused a year ago and I gained 15lbs... and can not get it off I am not eating any more or worse than I have for years! It frusterates me the fact that everytime I have surgery I gain weight and keep it on.. Now I have had another car accident and I am going to have to have a double discetomy and fusion.. and I am really really scared of the weight I am going to gain... No one believes me that its from the surgery they just say eat less and excercise more.. My natural path few years ago did have me on thyroid however I can not longer afford her and my regular doc said my levels are fine without.. RR frusterated!
