I had a tramflap surgery in 1996 with no side effects except a small hard ridge in my right breast which soon disappeared. At the time, however, I began to experience severe itching and burning in my abdominal area extending up to the bottom of my breasts. I still experience that after almost 22 years. The worst thing is that I ruptured a disc in my spine in 2013 and have experienced pain extending from my spine around my right side from the rib area to my hip bone. Have been to several spine doctors and after many epidurals for the pain and with the diagnosis that something is pressing on the main nerve in my spine and they think it is scar tissue from my surgery. Insurance won't pay for a CT scan for my spine surgeon. Where do I go to find out if this is the problem?

I had tram flap from back/shoulder rather than abdominal 6 years ago. Now having constant itching during the night, and a very painful ripping sensation. How can I stop this?

I was diagnosed in 2012 and went through all stages of TNBC3A. I have had several surgeries after the tram flap procedure, and for the bloating I found it to be inflammation that goes down when i use the girdle given after surgery for hours at home or sometimes while sleeping at night, next day my stomach would be looking less bulging. As for the occasion slight aches and pains it depends if I make a move like turning or bending over too long i just have to learn to live with it. A think many doctors/surgeons do not want to clean up another surgeon's mess or maybe its just bad to find a corrective result on this type of surgery. I also limit my food intake finding I get miserable if I eat too much I cannot digest it like I used to in my younger years prior to the surgery. Hope everyone can find a happy medium with this new normal because its more frustrating trying to find a remedy than small things you can do for yourself. Doctors do not always tell us the truth we have to be our own best advocates and take action on our own do the research is what I have found out through the years. Keep the faith and take care. Good luck and God bless you all.

I had the tram flap procedure in 2010 and have two hernias that cause almost daily discomfort. I live in a small town in Ohio and have not been able to find a surgeon who knows much of anything about the tram flap procedure. Also I have been told that successful hernia repair requires mesh to be attached and since I have no rectus abdominus muscle, that the hernia repair would not hold. How did you find a surgeon who could help with the hernia repair?
