Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone out there has had this problem. I had a mesh bladder sling placed a few months ago. Within 2 wks I could tell something was wrong. I was not getting better I was getting worse and the pain was getting worse by the day. I even began to lose the use of my left leg.
I later found out that 40% of women who have this done have serious complications, and 8% die. I have been through 3 removal surgeries already since I found out (after the fact, was not informed of risks before) that almost 1/2 of these procedures end in disaster.
I was just wondering if anyone out there is dealing with this. Or is there anyone out there that can tell me they had good results. That is something I have not been able to find. I can find the ones with problems, but have not been able to find a successful story yet.
I was just curious since just found this site.
thanks,
Is it mesh or the surgeon?

You may have good reason to speak to a medical device attorney/lawyer.

We are representing victims throughout the United States who are suffering complications stemming from the transvaginal mesh such as the Avaulta vaginal mesh, the Gynecare mesh, the Avaulta vaginal mesh system, and other mesh manufacturers.

The problem with the transvaginal mesh is that it causes erosion through the vaginal epithelium, infection, migration or movement, painful sexual intercourse, vaginal scarring, intense bowel and bladder pain, and the recurrence of incontinence. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

I had problems within 2 weeks after the initial surgery. It eroded through my vaginal wall into my vagina, not once but 4 times. I had surgery 4 times to remove it from my vagina. Within 3 months I had severe stroke like symptoms but not stroke. They ruled it an auto immune disease of unknown origin. I have gone into the hospital 3 times for IV steroid therapy lasting from 4-5 days and remain on daily oral steroids. The neurologists have run every test know to man and cannot figure out why I have MS symptoms. I have no lesions in the brain or brain stem that they can see. I told them about the surgery and they dismissed it as nothing. I feel sure all my troubles are from the mesh from having my bladder tacked. Because of the stroke like symptoms, I went through weeks of physical therapy to gain my strength and ability to walk without falling into walls and tripping over air. I developed palsy 5, 6 and 7 and gained double vision in my right eye. Steroids help, but they are taking a toll on my body. I now have diabetes because of the steroids. Has anyone else had problems of this magnitude?
