I'm glad I found this site, There has been alot of great advice.

I have a question....its embarrassing for me.

I have PCOS (poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and have to face the symptoms.

I was started on Birth Control Pills (BCP)about 4 months ago, and with issues my fault, I wasn't able to get a recent prescription, but I have a doctors Appoinment on Monday to renew the prescription and start again. The BCP were helping with some issues, clearing my skin, my cycles were getting regulated and.....the hair I deal with daily on my chin, face area was comming in slower and slower. (I have hair unfortunatly on other parts of my body...back, and bum, I remove the hair on my bum with hiar removal creams, and that works well. But my back is hard....no one knows about my issues with the hair, and it causes me alot of pain, I'm a 20 year old Girl, and for the last few years haven't worn a bathing suit or anything low cut on the back or anything. I'm not a small girl, so I have never been completely confident with my body as it is, but this makes it worse. No one has ever seen me naked ( I have a strong belief it will be hard for men to accept, but I haven't ever gave that opportunity a try)....my Gyno knows about this, but has never asked to see it.

My Questions: What can or should I do when it comes to the hair on my back, its not thick like a man or anything, but its there?

My Face, I shave my face daily. It's awful....my day starts off with a shower and I shave in the shower. The Problem I have is my sensitive skin, I get red at times and blotchy it sometimes goes away but sometimes it stays red. (like my other post) I have been using conditioner on my legs and bikini area, and have used it on my face and it helps, much smoother. But any advice? I can't afford laser or anything like that. I wish, but I can't. And creams I think are out of the question cause they are so corrosive, they would cause a great deal of irritation.

Any suggestions on creams or lotions I should put on afterwards?

Once I get back onto the BCP it will help clear up my face and it seemed to be helping with the redness and blothy effect. So I hope once I stay on the BCP some of these symptoms will diminish. I wear coverup and it hides the effects pretty good.

This is embarrassing for me to talk about...a 20 year old girl shouldn't be having these issues, but I feel its probably more common than some may thing, and in realityy in todays society any imperfections are hugely critisized.

So if all I can do is inform other girls that this is out there, than so be it. But if anyone has any advice or faces the same issues I would love to hear about it.

I will be talking to my Doctor when I go and see her on Monday, but I was hoping other people might have some advice.

Hi from Canada! : I just did a bit of research for you and found this EXCELLENT link to a great website. REading your message the 1st thing that was in my mind was `too much testerone`and that is why the pill works so well for you, because they are filled with estrogen and progesterone. So as soon as you get back on the pill and use it regularly you will notice the difference. ALSO due to you PCO this will play havoc with your hormones and probably causing even more hair then what was there before. I suppose that you don`t have regular periods right!

So anyway hon, I wish you all the look, regarding your back have you seen those depilatory gloves on tv - they actually work you know - they have a special covering and when rotated over your skin it gently o.O XD pulls the hair out. If you have a family member that can do your back for you that would be great. I wish you to have hair where it`s supposed to be and no hair everywhere else. Good luck and health hon!

Hi Bambi,

Thank for the site and info...I will look at that shortly.

As for my condition. I have done several blood tests. and yes all of my hormones are out of wack, but my estrogen and progesterone aren't that low concidering everything else. Just my Testosterone and other type male hormones are quite high. I went for a different blood test to see just how high they were and to narrow up some of the possibility of other conditions and I never heard anything more so I'm assuming those came back ok.

I do know that the hair is caused from the PCO, I have never had a proper period since I hit puberty in grade 8. Maybe 3 times a year, which to some people that is fine and dandy, but the chance of cancer etc is all increased with never shedding our inner lining...period.

But since taking the Birth Control...which I will say I'm only on birth control because my Gyno put me on it to help with the PCOS. I'm going to get back on the pill and stick to it.

Definitely honey! I went on the pill when i was 14 or 15! It was because I had such PAINFUL periods I couldn`t move. At first I felt really bad being on the pill! It thought it was just for the - bad girls - but as far as I`m concerened honey if it helps you then DO IT!! rightÉ You wILL feel better on them. They will bring on your period and get rid of the unwanted hair. Sounds like you have a good doctor, so follow what heéshe says OK! Good luck honey!
