basically ive not been on the pill since the end of june. during this time i have been having unprotected sex. i have had one period during this time altho did experience some spotting for 2 weeks. went to the doctors 3 weeks ago and they did a pregnancy test which indicated i was not pregnant. it is now 3 weeks later and i still have not had a period in this time. i did a HPT yesterday and there was a faint line but i am not 100% sure whether or not i checked it within the correct time frame. quite confused and hoping i am. any halp and advice would be much appreciated.

There is really not much to be confused about here. You stopped taking your pill at the end of June and have proceeded to have unprotected sex there after.
Are you trying to have a baby?
Do another HPT. Take the test first thing in the morning using your very first pee of the day. Set the test on the sink and walk away for a few minutes. You may have gotten a faint reading the first time because you probably disrupted the process. Leave it alone for the time it calls for. The proceed from there.

you can get a false negative but it is EXTREMELY rare to get a false positive. when i took my first pregnancy test there was a vvveeerrryyyy faint line, but it was there and i could see it. the next day i took 2 tests, one was negative the other positive. it turns out i was pregnant even with the 1 negative test i got.
a positive is a positive no matter how faint the line is.
your pregnant if the line is there, or you may have had a misscarriage without realising it and the hcg hormone is still in your body.
go to your doctor ASAP and if getting pregnant is not what you and your boyfriend want, get your a$$ on the pill and use condoms!

i now have sore breasts and nipples which i read is a sign of pregnancy...going to do another HPT this weekend, which will hopefully confirm either way. still no period and its a week and a half later, time will tell,.
