Not sure if anyone still checks but I had similar symptoms, no STD, burning coming and going, tingling, and after extensive searching online discovered know one really knows. So I went to a homeopathic doctor and within a few hours the symptoms were gone. They began coming back about a week later but took the next dose and again the symptoms went away. Do research and check it out. Hope it helps

There is a good chance your IC is caused by Lyme disease. Most doctors are not lyme literate or do not believe in it (i've seen many myself including urologists). I've had IC for almost 5 years and saw 90% improvement of inflammation just by taking turmeric with black pepper. Your IC may at first get worse, but then better. I'm now seeing a Lyme doctor to get tested. Please Google IC and Lyme and you will find a lot more info and testimonies of women with the same issues. Good luck.

hello, I have exact same symptoms as you. How are you doing? I'm so worried and stressed right now. I do not know what to do. My doctor does not have a clue what I'm having.

Has anyone tried flushing betadine or lactacyd in male urethra? Or antibiotic eye drops like neomycin or moxifloxacin or any antiseptic solution to get rid of the symptoms and bacteria? Getting desperate here

Your post is encouraging. I go Monday for a urethrea biopsy to rule out cancer. Did they ever do this for you?

How are you doing now with it? I was diagnosed 8 years ago with IC and go Monday for an OR procedure to treat Hunner's lesions. Most of my pain is urethra pain so she will do a biopsy. Wonderful doctor -- she is a urologist that is also a gyno.

All of these posts appear to be from women, however, I am a man experiencing the same issues. Intense pain in the urethra area and what I believe to be bladder spasms causing intense pain and having to relax first before urination. Urine tests show no infection. It runs in cycles, so I appear to be clear for a week or two if I am lucky before I have several days of misery with constant urination on a 30-45 minutes cycle and can not sleep. What is the cure?

I think first any infections should be ruled out as well as other conditions like IC. If your bladder is spasming you might want to try some meds for overactive bladder and see if they help, for example Vesicare or Betmiga. My boyfriend has also had Botox injections to the bladder to calm it down. It has been really effective for him. With urethra pain you might want to try some nerve pain medication, for example Gabapentin or Lyrica. If the urethra pain comes from urethra spasming and not from nerve damage etc. then they won't help. Also check pH level of your urine and see if alkalizing your urine effects to the pain and spasming.

Thank you for that information. I will run it by my doctor. He started me on low dose antibiotics this week and we will see if that has any impact since infections from bacteria are not detected necessarily in the prostate or kidney. Trial and error seem to be best pproaches. Your information will be discussed.

Im glad I found you kenner. I am a male in my 50's and it started in October. Had 3 urine tests. All fine. Saw a eurologist and that was not pleasant. All fine. Then I came across your post. Im on the Generic Effexor (Venlafaxine) 150 mlgrms per day. No more pain. I may have to stay on it but at least Im back to myself. Bless you for telling your story. Gary, Charlotte, NC
