Thank you all for the replies. The Mirena has been in almost two months and the itching just started. I did the same thing as many of you - yeast infection, topical creams. I thought that I was losing my mind. Now, I know it's the damn Mirena. Am going to try some better yogurt. The thing is coming out in September!

I went sugar free, 2months now. And no more infections! Have had mirena in for 10months. I get a 7day light period every 33days on the dot. It's lighter Everytime. Before going sugar free, I was taking probiotics daily, helped a hell of a lot!!! No more topical creams or thrush pills :)
Worth looking into. ... I don't want to take my mirena out, as my periods are now pain free and life is better! So I found a way to get through the itch :) hope this helps

I got this thing aprox 2 weeks ago and I have had a constant smelly bloody/brown discharge along with redness and swelling along the clit area. I have had a on and off constant headache since receiving this thing. I had a sudden onset of low back and lower abdominal pain that was worse than any contraction I ever had with given birth to my child! Now it has came to my lips looking like gorilla lips all swollen and inflamed, walking is near to impossible (well at least upright) it feels like shards of glass ripping my skin open! I've done all the OTC wipes and creams and NOTHING has helped. The only thing that seems to help is an Ice pack between my legs and having to wear clothes is very hard!! So I go tomorrow to see the NP that placed this thing and if they dare to tell me that they will NOT remove it then I will remove it myself. Just pull on that thread and it will dislodge the device either causing it to go thru the wall or to come out the right way. One way or another this thing will be coming out because I can not go through life walking like a corn cob is stuck up my ass because it hurts so bad to put my legs together because my lips are the size of Gorilla lips!! I wish someone would have told me about these side effects before getting it placed because I had it placed for heavy bleeding. Because no matter how many times my wife and I try to get pregnant we can't!! So I really don't see any reason that I need a uterus so I'm all about taking it OUT and let my stuff get back to normal!!

I had a nuvoring a while back you just have to remember to trade them out. They're pretty cool, a little weird during sex.

Omg I feel so so much better reading this. 3 months after I had IUD inserted I started itching vaginally and anally and it's been a year now and has not gone away. Constant scratching burning and itching. I thought I was going crazy. Dr always tells me it's my soap or toilet paper causing fissures. I'm finally having my IUD removed next week and I can't wait. This has been hell down there.

Same. The constant itch. Mine is coming out September as well. Praying it takes the itch away once and for all. Mine itches vaginally and anally. It's bizarre. Can't stand it another day

How could you not know mirena has hormones? You didnt think to see how it works before you had it put in your body? Its a hormonal contraception........ jeeze... like IUDs just scare sperm away or something?

I'm going to the exact same thing I've had the Mirena for about a month and I have constant vaginal itching and I get little ulcers or sores or little Cuts I'm not sure always around the perineum area and along the sides of the labia I've gone to the doctor several times once they treated me for herpes without even doing a test to see if it was herpes another time they traded me for yeast infection although I wasn't having discharge I knew it wasn't a yeast infection it is very painful sometimes during sex and almost always after I've been having a lot of trouble and having to use lubrication because my vagina is always dry and uncomfortable during sex but my doctor says has nothing to do with the Mirena she says it's just because I'm diabetic and I'm older a list of things that we deal with as we get older I'm 38 years old I was not having these complications until after having the Mirena inserted I'm seriously thinking about having it removed but right now this seems to be my best choice for birth control because of my age and medical conditions I don't know what to do

Thank you ladies for all your helphul comments, I thought it was only me and I starting searching and looking at the reviews, I have Mirena on since February last year, at the beginning I had periods very long and heavy at times, and more often than usual, I used to be very puntual on schedule every 28 days, after Mirena I never new when was coming...now it is more regular and spots only, but days and days with spots..frustrating... I had suffer a lot with itching and burning, so bad I cant take it anymore, but I never thought it was because of Mirena, I do not have a discharge or smell., but I feel my vagina is dry since I have Mirena, I was always nice and wet and without any discomfort....this hormones make your body change so much..its not funny... I dont like it.. if my symptoms continues I will remove it...the only thing I like is that I have no heavy periods anymore..I guess Mirena works different in every body...

I wish I would have read up on mirena before I had mine put in! I've had mine in for about 8 months.. I was in the hospital over Christmas because I ended up having and ectopic pregnancy (a risk of mirena) which led to the removal of one of my felopian tubes. And I too have crazy non stop itching , even when I use the creams it doesn't help. I thankfully have an apt next month to get it removed. Never again!
