After I got my IUD and within 12 months I started getting inflammation “raw skin”, brown discharge, lesions, itching. I was so sensitive to anything. Even when I showered and i washed myself it felt like I was giving myself paper cuts. Very painful.
Sex seemed to make it worse. I was super dry and it would rip and tear the skin around my vagina. So I went to the doctors and they tested me for everything you could thing of. They thought I had STDs, bacterial infections. Which everything came back negative so they gave me a cream. The cream never did anything cause my problems would come back. I went back to the doctors and they gave me more cream and more tests and I left with a 3 month supply of cream. Still nothing! This went on for 3 years finally I knew it was my iud but every doctor disagreed, and knew nothing about the side affects of the IUD. So I got my IUD removed last March. And 11 months later I still have all of the symptoms. I’m scheduled to see a woman’s specialist next week.

Have you even read the complaints? Many of these serious symptoms are occurring immediately after the IUD is implanted. It is clearly the IUD and not circumstance. Trust women to know their bodies

I thought I was crazy! A few months ago I was having itching and burning. I got checked for infections and did have one and was treated for it. BUT I still have off and on itching and it’s driving me crazy. It’s not constant and I’m starting to think it’s the mirena. Ive been itching off and on for a few months now. I’ve had the mirena for over a year now and about a month ago I started spotting and I haven’t spotted the whole time I’ve had this thing until now. Before the spotting I had itching and then after the spotting I was ok for a few weeks until I had sex with my husband. I started itching after that and I’ve been itching for about 2 weeks now. I’m thinking that it’s been about a month since the spotting (so maybe that’s a period??) I’ve read people can be itchy before a period and maybe the extra progesterone is causing itching?? Either way I want this thing out! One nurse practitioner thought I had Lichen and that seemed nuts so I asked a dermatologist and they didn’t think I had it. The nurse practitioner
wouldn’t listen to me and didn’t even consider the mirena to be a culprit. Did anyone else have this issue where the doctor didn’t think about it!
