For me, Valium makes me depressed, Xanax just works. It depends on your weight and dosage. I have severe PTSD so I take it every day but have not increased dosage or "abused" it, ever. If you only have occasional anxiety, you could just take a small dose occasionally. I am very upset that there is such a stigma now about Xanax, it's a perfectly good medicine when used as it's meant to be used. Good luck

You can and will.... Die from withdrawal of Xanax or any benzo if taken on large doses or over a long period of time everyday or both of in between! It's the same as alcohol withdrawals which are deathly and cause psychosis except benzos are more often than not sometimes worse and always the post acute withdrawal syndrome last way..... Way.... Longer. Up to two years before you begin to feel normal.

I have taken Xanax or valium for years. When I first started with Xanax, I had 3 refills, I picked up the first refill within a day or two after I ran out, after the second one ran out, I dropped it off to get filled but before I could go get it, my girlfriend watched me have a seizure. I was never told you couldn't go a few days without it but now I know which is why I only take diazepam and make sure that I pick it up at the30 day mark even if I haven't used the previous refill. From what I have experienced and read, you are less likely to have these types of complications of youtaper off Xanax vs valium but be careful and learn about them before u decide... God bless

Hi I'm 51 and I found out when I was 43 that I had severe anxiety and manic bipolar I get one mg of Xanax to take four times a day but it seems like sometimes it just isn't enough before having surgery lately to relax before I went into the hospital they gave me a 10 mg Valium that seem to last longer so I'm really not sure what to do most doctors around here will not give you both and I'm also on a bipolar medication any suggestions there will be times that my anxiety and social anxiety are so bad that I won't even leave my house because I'm scared of what people think of me and I live in a small town and even sometimes small tasks are hard for me I did start a new bipolar medication and it seems to help some but I live in Nebraska and laws are very strict any suggestions would really be appreciated
