I was told that my VP shunt, which was put in place in 1980, was not shielded for radio frequency waves, such as those found in cell phones, one of which I received last Christmas. The person who gave me the cell phone, told me to "use the other ear." I did a little research on this, and I found where one article said the RF waves stay in the Brain for several hours after using the phone, and may alter the settings on the shunt without my knowledge. It was then suggested that I go and have the surgery, and have the shunt up-graded to a more current model, to accommodate the phone! Was I right to refuse the cell phone, or am I being over-cautious?
