Hi guys - interesting to read through your experiences on WB

I was allowed to PWB as of a fortnight ago and, to my surprise, it's been going pretty well

- its always hugely helpful to read the experiences of other Lisfranc-ers
a group of us have got together on Facebook to share experiences and help and support each other
- we'd appreciate input from as many positive people as possible
so if you would be willing to contribute find us at the Lisfranc Fracture Club

regards

Sorry, I just saw this! I'm doing pretty good, I still have pain most days (nothing severe, just twinges), BUT a few months ago I was able to start wearing flip flops again, lol, which is a HUGE thing for me, I hate sneakers! I also found an amazing sneaker that feels so great on my feet! It's the Nike Fusion ST2. They run about 80 bucks, but they're SO worth the money!

Hi MamaLisfranc
I hope everything continues to progress well (as per your later posts)...
I read with interest your experiences of researching this, and your husband's worry that it might do more harm than good!!
I too initially found lots of doom and gloom about the injury, which WASN'T helpful
and loads of medical references with v technical explanations and gruesome graphics...
>>>> what I wanted, and needed, was to find 'normal' people with personal experience of Lisfranc
who could give me an insight into what lay ahead
AND hope that I would eventually get to a position where the injury could be 'coped with'
>>>> gradually I started to find the right people, through blogs, youtube, forums such as this
and decided to pull together a group of such people to make it easier for new Lisfranc-ers to find the RIGHT sort of info
>>> we would love to have you and people like you 'on-board'
the CLUB is on Facebook - search for Lisfranc Fracture Club
- very best regards & LOOK AFTER THAT FOOT!!

Hello fellow Lisfrancers!  I'd love to be part of the club but I'm not quite at that "upbeat" phase yet.  I  fell November 14, 2012 at work (I work with middle school autistic kids).  The first doctor I saw told me I had a level 3 sprain.  I saw him 4 times that month, continuing to tell him something was terribly wrong, but he kept telling me I wasn't walking on it enough.  So, I kept trying to walk, only to get into more trouble.  I finally got into a foot specialist who knew immediatley what was wrong. She was mortified he had me going to PT right away!  An MRI confirmed a lisfranc fracture, breaks at met. 4 and 5, and injury to the achilles.  She told me I needed surgery and it was scheduled.  Meanwhile I mwntioned I had an allergy to many metals (I found out whike going for a tooth implant).  To be safe she had me tested again and the test was not enough for her to go ahead with the surgery.  So, I have been doing PT trying to get the foot to heal in a way that will allow me to walk on it.  So far the bones are holding, but the quality of the bone is poor.  When I fell I landed on my left knee and my rib cage (I was throwing a ball to 1st base and ended up spread eagle on the gym floor).  The knee is still swollen and bruising and am seeing a specialist for that.  The foot continues to hurt- a lot- and I have a terrible limp.  This has caused a huge sore to develop on the bottom of my other foot, making it especially painful to walk!  It is going on 10 months now and I am still unable to work.  I do not know how this worker's comp stuff works, but so far I have been declared totally, temporarily disabled. (NY State).  My concern is how much better will it ever get since I cna't have the surgery?  Also, what happens with the worker's comp thing?  When do they declare me as healed as I'm going to get?  I am worried about my pay ending (I work for the school district and they have turned my pay over to comp, which is a lot less than I usually earn.  Does anyone know how long the district has to hold my job?  What happens to tie this whole thing up?  I don't want to hire a lawyer if I don't have to as I need every penny if there is a settlement.  Has anyone else healed w/o surgery?  Any other comp people?  I try to stay positive but sometimes I get very depressed and wonder if I am going to have to live like this forever?  Everything I do takes a conscious effort, and I don't do very much at that.  Any help you all can give me would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

re not feeling upbeat enough for the LISFRANC FRACTURE CLUB
that's precisely why I would encourage you to pop in...

when you do...
you'll see how many CLUB members comment on how supportive and helpful they've found the CLUB and its members to be... (at any stage)...
indeed many express how much they wish they'd found the CLUB earlier!!

as fellow Lisfrancers we DON'T expect everyone to be having a good day every day...
we KNOW BETTER than that - we've been/are there too

You would be genuinely welcomed by people who empathise and understand

... hoping to hear from you soon....
best wishes, all @ Lisfranc Fracture Club (just search for us on Facebook)
