I only wear eyeglasses for reading. About six months ago I noticed that it was very uncomfortable to wear any reading glasses. The area around my eyes and nose gets a cold, numb sensation and feels uncomfortable. The longer I wear the glasses, the longer the sensations lasts after I take the glasses off. I tried contacts and I do not get the sensation, but could not adjust to monovision or the loss of distant vision. Saw a neurologist who did a 20 minute basic neuro exam and said I was fine and it should go way. It is very disconcerting. I have started using audio books when I want to read a novel for pleasure. Help!

Did you ever receive answers for this?  I have a hard time wearing my glasses because they cause a burning sensation across the bridge of my nose that ends up making it's way down my entire nose. I can't figure out what is causing it.

I have had the same problem too and it was really starting to impact my ability to work. I found this support for glasses that has helped. I would not wear it out of the house for obvious reasons, but to get some relief at least at home has been great!

I also suffer with this ... wearing glasses for just 5mins will make the left arm on my body go numb and I also feel really giddy with pins and needles in my face. Its awful and makes me feel rubbish for the rest of the day. I asked my doctor and optician about it and they look at me like I am mad. I am long sighted and had my eyes laser''d about 8yrs ago which was amazing and was told because of my prescription it would'nt last . So now my vision is not as good again and I am very frustrated Its unbearable to wear glasses. Would love to hear from any of you if find any more info on this matter?

Are the glasses heavy? Heavy frames/glasses can pinch nerves and cause numbing, tingling, etc.

I have started to get this too, I had cataract surgery on both eyes and now have to wear reading glasses (previously wore them for distance only). I had no issues before surgery but I cannot bare to wear reading glasses for very long and have to lift them away from my face to continue to read. Cold, icey, tingley sensation over my nose and face. Went to the optician who thought it may be the heaviness of the frames, adjusted them and still no change. So frustrating.

Has anyone received an answer to this problem? I've been dealing with a freezing cold nose and eyelids every time I wear my reading glasses. It's been over a month, now. I'm 51 and wondering if it could be hormone related.

It was severe digital eye strain! I needed to go up in my magnification strength on my readers and lessen my usage of computers. Since that was my job, I actually quit and combined with a lot of eye rest and massage on my eyebrow area and forehead to unbind my eye focal muscles, plus the new glasses, it has resolved. My muscles in my eyebrows and forehead were in constant spasm which was pinching the nerve causing the strange cold sensations in my eyelids, nose and forehead. I hope this helps someone!
