I had a total hysterectomy 16 months ago, I still feel like c**p, sex still hurts, I have a lot of down days, no energy, and I have gained 34 lbs.
Everyone told me how much better I feel afterwards but they are wrong. I am 34 feel 64 any advice

i had a total hysterectomy, cervix, part of the vagina. lymph nodes and ovaries 14 months ago, I still feel like c**p, i have alot of down days, no energy and I have gained 9lbs. I'm alive and cancer free atm but I fully understand your comments. I'm tired of being tired - ungrateful though that may sound. What mg of hormone replacement are you on? They upped mine from 1mg a day to 2mg a day and that made the world of difference for the past 12 months. have you got bladder problems and an ongoing back ache? those are my most recent let downs. also read that many people can suffer from depression after major hysterectomy - perhaps you should talk to your doc? your oestrogen levels may be letting you down.

I had a complete hysterectomy five months ago and I have gained 21 lbs. I took herbal sources at first for the estrogen but it wasn't strong enough and full blown anxiety took over. I thought one day I would go insane. I am also using a progesterone creme with DHEA. My osteoporosis has taken off with a bang!! I should be a 3-00 tops but my hips and spine are .7!!!! What a terrible thing to do to me. No notice or warning from my MALE doctor what would happen to me. " We can give you something to make you feel better" he said. The only thing that I have found that can help that you can read on your own, is Alyssa Cohens cookbook " Living on Live Food." In her biographies chapter, there is a woman who had a complete hysterectomy and she lost a ton of weight just going on the raw food diet. She was in her 60's. She was also gay. So I don't know if that was because she gave up on feeling a lobido towards a man or if that was truly her life style before her hysterectomy.

I too had a recent total hysterectomy, around about three months ago. I too am experiencing weight gain (in stomach mainly and all over areas), even on doctor prescribed diet pill (adipex) and still gained weight. I have no energy, tired feeling that never leaves, sleepless nights, body aches all over, head aches (on beta blocker twice a day now), facial and jaw pains can be intense, bladder is either got to go right now or doesn't seem like it fully empties, chest pains (creeping up my sternum and in my chest), sexual desire is almost obsolete, still stomach, pelvic, and ovay pains (has to be ghost pains..no ovaries), and bowel pains and problems with being anything close to regular. I feel like I am twenty years my age, I am almost 40. I don't know what to do anymore. It is good to read others thoughts through their posts and know I am not alone. I have spoken to my doctor, who is phenomenal, and they don't know why. UGH!!! :-( :'( Thank you.

I as well have had the same concerns and questions. I know I am not by myself with all the side effect after having a hysterectomy. Weight gain of 40 lbs in 4 years, hypoactive sexual desire disorder, Lack of energy, Brain Fog, Recall is slow, skin and hair dull. (MY AGE IS 49 AND HAD A TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY FOUR YEARS AGO) Have been tested yearly for hypothyroidism but each Doctor said I was fine. I have tried vitamins, exercise and reading post like this for solutions and support. I wonder why there is not much research or Help for our concerns.

I had a total abd. hysterectomy goin on 3 yrs ago. Yes...it sucks. I wish i had went to another dr for a second opinion. I am 39 now and it has been pure misery. I constantly break out into a sweat for no reason. I have gained 35lbs (in my belly area). I'm very active and eat right and still cant lose a pound. I stay nervous alot. I have mood swing all the time. I hate it. I am on hormone therapy but it doesnt help either. My family physician told me that the right amount of hormones can never really be replaced. I feel for every woman that has had a hysterectomy. We think its suppose to help us when in all out reality its aweful. I know in some cases where cancer is reason for having one...it is a must. I just wish drs would come up with another alternative.

I decided to do an experiment with my weight gain since my total hysterectomy. I have started on a water fast. I'm going to stick with it until I either permanently loose weight, or my emotions stabelize. That word stabelise is spelled wrong I know, and I've spelled it every way but right. I decided to go ahead and use black and blue cohosh tinctures and an herbal concoction called changese from Dr. John R. Christopher, American herbalist. I'll use two dropper fulls of each product every morning and every night. No enemas or colonics. And yes, I am going to use the estrace creme vaginally because the scar is very painful and the tissues dry up so bad I'm in a lot of pain if I don't use it. Otherwise, I will just stick to the water fast. I looked up the subject on you tube. Got some help from there on a water fast. I'm also working on acid foods versus alkali foods. Dr. Susan Brown has written a book to help us with our huge bone loss that we suffer from because of the hysterectomy. Good luck all you ladies who are in pain and in larger clothes this year.

Well ladies, I had a total hysterectomy 4 months ago and I have to say that I feel almost as good as I did when I was in my twenties, if not better.  I'll be 38 this year.  I was exttremely active before my surgery, so I was really ticked off when i started experiencing severe symptoms from the MANY fibroids growing inside of me.  Not to mention the heavy bleeding and the endometriosis.  the 6 months before surgery i worked out maybe twice a week, if that much.  After my surgery in Dec I started working out again at the beginning of March.  I too have gained weight, 7lbs so far, and I am trying to pay more attention to  both the quality and quantity of what I eat.  The weight gain is annoying(it's all in my belly), especially since I'm in the gym 3 times a week and run long distances on the weekend.  My only advice is - don't give up ladies.  Try taking multi-vitamins daily (consult your doctors first) and try working out outside, walking, biking whatever enables you to feel like "you" again.

I had breast cancerI too had a total hysterectomy almost a year ago cannot take any horm but I haven't gained a pound and my hot flashes are very mild. I am CANCER FREE and have been blessed. I didn't realize how blessed until I read some of these comments. oh I am on tamoxifen a drug which causes hot flashes and I also had a bi-lateral masectomy however, The Lord Jesus said he wouldn't put any more on you than you can bare or overcome I beleive that, so when I have a problem I take it to God in Prayer.

Wow, now i see I'm not alone.  Reading all these coments made me cry and see that life is not always fair.  But God does let us go through tough times to rely on Him.  Like i tell my daughter, there is always someone else who has it worst than you. My prayers will now include all you sisters of hysterectomy!

I can't believe your complaining. At 121 lbs and size 6, i'd give anything to be this size, I had a total hysterectomy and both breasts removed because of Ca. I'm 5' and gained a lot of wt. over the last 12 yrs. due to all the surgeries i'm over 200 lbs and having a lot of trouble loosing it, I'm so tired, don't sleep good, I have a lg. lump of fat around my middle that is more to the left side, and with a deformed breast , that every time I sit the lump pushes my bra up over the breast, very uncomfortable, I have trouble finding a good Dr. I only wish I had your problem. If anyone can direct me to a Dr. in San Diego I'd love to hear from you

And it hangs like i've lost weight. Ughh i hate that. Smh. I try and tell myself its because i've had four kids and i'm over the age of 35yrs. lol. Anyway.. I Sure would like to know for SURE! If my belly weight gain has been caused by my hysterectomy??? Help Please.
