Undergoing a Total hysterectomy tomorrow and feeling very nervous and scared. Have been reading up on it as much as possible. So much of it sounds awful, but then I found this website, where people are talking very positive about how they feel afterwards! I am hoping that I can have it done robotically, as my Dr. mentioned that and that would be my preferred method. He is concerned about scar tissue from an old surgery I had so I had a CT scan done last week and I will be not know how he will proceed until tomorrow morning before surgery. I have a 22 year old and an 11 year old and work fulltime, so I am hopeful that I will be able to get back to my busy life asap! I know I need to rest and take it easy, which I will, but I really don't want the abdominal done as the recovery time is so much longer. I would love to lose some weight also as I have carried some extra weight for the past 5 yrs and no matter what diet or how much I exercise, I do not lose more than 15 lbs! This is the first website where women are saying that they have lost weight and been able to keep it off. That is my hope as well!!!! I am very excited to hear that everyone is reporting feeling much better than they did before the surgery and that they have increased energy. My energy level has been very, very low for the last year or so and I am just looking forward to being able to enjoy spending quality time with my family and having the energy to do things with them again!!!

Update.....my surgery was on 4/25/11 and today is 4/27/11. I was able to have my complete hyseterectomy done via Laproscope. My CT scans did show a large amount of scar tissue, however, he was willing to work through that. The tumor that appeared on my left ovary was benign and he removed alot of the scar tissue. He also discovered a large amount of endometriosis which I had never been diagnosed with. I had many adhesions on my colon, bladder, etc and he removed all of that as well. The pain has been very manageable.....did not use morphine, got by on oral pain meds the night of surgery. I was up walking and moving within a hour after getting to my room. I came home on Tues. 4/26/11 in the morning and am not having any issues.....not even the first sign of hot flash or night sweats!!!! I hope this helps someone who is very nervous and scared about their upcoming surgery! Good luck to all!!!
