I have been reading the different replies about the weight gain after ruptured apendix. And I have truly come to the conclusion that it is food that we cannot digest, I happened to click on to a site about this and a doctor happened to say that it is thought that the appendix was used by the body to help with digestion, in other words things that we cannot digest this little part of the colon did just that, digested particular food that are heavy or something. So I went on line and found all the foods that can be easily digested and all the types of foods that cannot easily be digested. I lived faithfully for a month on the easy foods and found I lost weight after a week it was noticeable. I tried to be good by just eating fish and chicken breast that had been bashed out to a thin crip, brocolli and grilled tomatoes, soup that was vegetable and all that type of thing. But when I have been out with my family and not watched the types of easily digestable food and gone for a pasta dish lasagne or something delicious, not only do I instantly bloat up in the tummy but the next day it is noticeable on my hips legs thighs. Very worrying because I like to keep looking reasonable I have never been a size eight but I can reach 12/14 dress size usually. So today after a large meal in a restaurant and wanting to cry because of this extra weight I feel bloated and down hearted. I am going back on line and searching out the digestable foods and staying on it as much as I can. I do feel somehow this is the key. Goodness knows how long though it has been seven months now. I still have a little bit of aching in the side though, so perhaps it takes much longer for the body to heal than we think. Anyway from one sufferer to another goodluck.
