I was diagnosed of having an "osteoid osteoma" aside from fibromyalgia and depression in one of the hospitals in Chicago sometime April 2007 when I was hospitalized. Lately, I have been having pain in the right side of my neck and the lower part of my head on the right, and headaches that come and go. Is there a possibility that I have cancer? I was told that this osteoid osteoma is a kind of tumor which is very small in size and will just ne gone or kind of melt out. How true? Since I feel swollen on my right part (neck, lower part of the head and the clavicle) and I have pain, I have no idea what's going on with me. I would appreciate to have some enlightenment with this case. Thank you very much!

Hi there,

I don’t think that this condition can be a cancer because in most cases osteoid osteoma is benign bone tumor. This tumor usually occurs in the area of osteoblasts. However the tumor can happen in any bone in your body, but in most cases it occurs in the longer bones in your body. I think that you don’t have to panic about this condition to be a cancer, but you have to talk to your doctors about the best treatment option. I think that you might even need a surgery to remove the tumor from your bone. I hope that this helped you in any way.

All the best,

Danella
