what do you think of gay marriages?

Why do so many people use their religion as an excuse for ignorance? Gays never made the choice to be that way and the fact that some people think God would keep people out of heaven for such a stupid reason seems ridiculous.

Ok... so I'm gonna start off by saying I'm 17 and gay... and I don't see anything wrong with that... and it took me along time to be okay with myself. I went through alot... but people can't help who they are. I'm tired of people saying that gay is a choice because it certainly is not. I didn't wake up one morning and say "You know what? I'm gonna be gay" it's not something that can be controlled... I don't have a magical switch that can make me gay or straight whenever I want to... it just doesn't work that way. I was ashamed of myself for along time for being gay until I realized there's nothing wrong with it and now I'm able to embrace my gayness. and as for the bible and saying that gay people will go to hell... I don't believe it... you can't believe everything in the bible word for word because the bible has been around for a long long time and I'm sure that at some point someone stretched the truth or changed a few things for their liking... as I said before you can't believe one hundred percent on what you read. Now I'm not saying the bible as a book of lies because I know that there is some truth in there... if god loves all of his children equally and treats all of them equally then it makes no sense why he would shun away gay people... they are still his children. I will never believe that gay people will be rejected from heaven... because we weren't there to hear it with our own ears. now as far as gay marriage goes... I support it one hundred percent!! if two people are in love and want to express it who are you to forbid them from marriage? love is love plain and simple. and about adoption for gay people... I support that too!! there are people who give away children, abuse them ect. so if two gay couples can give a child what he/she needs then I say go for it!! also, people say that two gay couples who adopt children will get "turned" gay... that is total bull c**p both of my parents are straight and I'm gay so how do you explain that one? I wasn't planning on writing such a long message but when I read these ridiculous messages I just had too. at one point in time black people weren't allowed the same rights as white people which went on for several years until finally the racism stopped well... mostly... there are still some racism towards dark skinned people and I don't think that's fair... there is nothing wrong with them.... so what if their skin is a little darker? they are still HUMAN and function the same as the rest of us. I'm glad they now have the same rights as us its the way it should be! I wish the racism against gay people would stop... there is NOTHING wrong with us... we are all HUMAN and all of our bodies function the same. I apologize if I offended anyone because those were not my intentions... my intentions were simply to show that we are all equal. Black, White, Gay, Straight whatever... I don't judge people but what they look like or the color of their skin I judge them by their personality and if they're good people. I'm white but I have many black friends, white friends ect. I don't care how you look as long as your a good person... that's what counts. But unfortunately not everyone thinks that way... again I apologize if I offended anyone and I also apologize for such a long message lol I just wanted to get my point across... I hope everyone will actually take the time to read this and not just skip over it... but Thank you to those of you who do take the time to read this. :-D

I completely agree with you. People don't mind doing against god's will for those nowadays. It was right in their own eyes and what about their future. I don't know how governments accepting and supporting these things to happen.

Simon and Girlish, you both sound very naive in your posts. Doesn't seem like you have much knowledge of homosexuality, heterosexuality, the Bible, our government, or God.

I'm so sick of everyone saying it is God's will for people to be straight, gay, etc. Maybe God is our creator, but he certainly would not have decided to make this person gay or this person straight. We are all the same race...why would God decide to make one man or one woman's life harder by "making" them gay. These people were born this way...it is not a choice that was made by them nor God.

You know...I was watching a movie "Legend" last night for the second time, and there was something that Will Smith said that hit me really hard. Not sure you are familiar with the movie, but a virus takes over the whole world and Will Smith was the creator of the virus and he is now, supposedly the only one left. Anyway, someone references God, and he says "God didn't do this...we did this to ourselves". God is not the reason for why things happen. The human race is the one who has been prejudice, spread disease and hate, discriminate, commit crimes, and now our world is in near shambles...not because of God...because of the HUMAN RACE.

I also wanted to reply to Kirby....I think you are a very strong young man. It takes (for some) much longer to accept the fact that they are gay. I am very happy that you can now embrace it and no longer live your life as a lie. Whether you are gay, straight, white, black, or brown...you are a human...and in my eyes your just the same as me. You love, you hate, you hurt, you bleed....can't get much more "human" than that. Good luck to you honey....I can tell you are going to do something important with your life :D

To all the Bible qouters, If you call yourselves Christians, then you are supposed to be disciples of the teaching of CHrist the Lord. That is why it is called Christianity. Not the curch of make your own rules. There is only one place in the new testament that speaks about homosexuality. It is in a letter from paul to the Ethesians and Gauls where he was asked to resolve a disagrement. If GOD thought this was such a sin, don't you think HIS SON, would have preached on the subject on his time on earth. And then you want to qoute the old testament. You want gays to have no rights, then start making laws for the rest of the things the old testament says is an affront to GOD, Lets see, we need to outlaw shellfish(shrimp, lobster), the eating of any animals with cloven hoofs,(pork is the most common),there are many items that man is supposed to abide by. But the Bible thumpers live by the code of only living by the ones that offend them. The founding fathers wanted a seperation of church and state, Thomas Jefferson never attended church, and had children with his slaves. They knew personal rights were the most important thing that a new government could promise it's people. My parents had 5 children, divorced after 17 years, and had waited 3 years so my youngest brothers were of a certain age. I know Gay couples who have been together for 20, 25, 28, 32, 35 years. This is just 5 couples I personally know. Straight marraiges end up in a very high rate of divorce, they swear before God to a covenent that is not to be broken, and there are hundreds a day breaking that bond by divorce. Read the teachings of Christ and start living it. Help your fellow man, stop telling people they are going to Hell, Judge not least thee be judged. It is GODS right to judge his children, not the guy on tv asking for money from retired and poverty riden people while they live in Mansions and ride in Limos. Jesus lived a simple life, NONE of the televangilists can even come close to saying that, Even Oral Roberts had his photos air-brushed to remove the gold rings he wore.That is a Fact! Preach acceptance tolerance,and love for your fellow man. That is what Christ would do. WWJD..he'd look at you people who twists the word of god and say"that's not what I meant". Practice your religion in YOUR home and YOUR church and stop trying to place your will on everyone else. Who do you think you are? The pope? Jesus spoke for his father, lets leave his time on earth to guide Us..Children are dying in orphanages world wide, and special needs kids don't have a chance. Yet Gay people adopt special needs children, some times several of them to provide them with a safe loving enviroment and family to grow up in. And the ones who think beastiality will follow, open your own closet door, because that is where that nonsense comes from. Thump something besides the Bible, cause Your not qualified!

I was amazed watching a show on ,i think, the history channel, that the story of creation in Genesis we were taught as kids and still believe, has a lot more to it. Apparently God did make man and woman.BUT the first woman was not Eve. The first woman rebeled fought with Adam and was not much of a mate. She fled the Garden of Eden. It was then, that God took a rib from Adam and Created Eve. She shall be of him, as a way to make sure they were compatible. I know there were books in the dead sea scrolls that were left out of the bible by the MEN who origanally compiled the gospels. Several of those were written by women. And the "church" didn't want women in the heirarchy. And it was the early Catholic church that labled Mary Magdaline a woman of ill repute. If she as some think, was the closest disciple and most favored by Jesus, then the church would have had to Include women in the ranks, A COMPLETLY Male Group which has succeeded for centuries in keeping out women or limiting their roles that had no control or authority. So next time you hear God didn't make Adam and Steve, Remember that Adam and Eve, were the first succesful couple, but Eve not the first woman. Why give man prostates, but not women. Yes it produces the fluid that helps with procreation. And it is also a very stimulating part of the male anatomy. Think about it, the clitoris has nothing to do with the actual making of a baby, but gives pleasure to the woman. God gave us these organs of pleasure, not to abuse as in slavery and prostitution, but to give both sexes pleasure.and a woman doesn't need a man to stimulate theirs, and the other way around. If this was the intended purpose, wouldn't these be internal so only the opposite sex could stimulate them? It is the Heart and Soul of a person that makes them good, not what equipment they are endowed with.

While fundamentalists and the bible will disagree with me, if someone wants to adopt kids or marry their same gender, that's their choice.  No one deserves to lose rights and privileges simply because of who they identify as.
