Hello. My best friend has developed some lung disease and I would like to find out more information about it.
I've heard about it from his mother because he is missing from school for almost a week now.
Anyway, he just felt strong pain located in his chest and the pain was increasing with excessive breathing.
Supposedly, the condition is called pleurisy and it is caused by some kind of virus.
Can someone tell me more about exact mechanism of this unpleasant lung condition?

Hi. I understand that you are probably worried about your friend and that you're interested how all this happens.
Pleurisy in fact doesn’t have to do anything with lungs because we are talking about inflammation of pleura, double layer that surrounds the lungs!
Like you said- condition can make breathing extremely painful and that’s why it has to be appropriately treated!
The mechanism is simple- when these layers become inflamed, their surfaces are starting to rub on each other which is causing pain while breathing. I hope I helped you to understand better this!
Fast recovery!
