I'm 22. Recently I found out that the semen gets accumulated under the foreskin of my penis. I find it hard to remove them. As the head is very sensitive it is hard to remove. Will it cause any problems in future?

Hi Beeper,

It sounds as if you have phimosis and can't retract your foreskin.

What you're likely seeing isn't semen but smegma.  It's a collection of bodily fluids, dead skin cells, and other materials.  It needs to be cleaned - regularly.  Not cleaning it can lead to infections, not just for you but for any partner.

Can you retract your foreskin fully?  You should have by about age 16 or so.  As you get older it gets more difficult to do this but try stretching.  Get an erection and pull down on the shaft skin OR  use your fingers to spread the opening.  Do it as often as you can.  It may help to do it in the shower so that the warm water helps soften skin.  You MAY need to see a urologist or your doctor as they can prescribe steroids that can help you stretch.

The glans is normally very sensitive at first.  Why?  Because it has been covered all your life and isn't used to being touched.  It will become less sensitive in time.

Your foreskin should be able to slide up and down easily when erect, all the way over the glans.

Hope it helps.
