I am a male and have the same problem I am self treating with self made antimicrobial bladder instillation because I tried most antibiotics available without success. 6 unhelpful doctors with their useless colony count urine tests and 10 years of self-research identified the infection as staph epidermis which was confirmed with DNA testing that I had done on my own. The problem for me was the doctors called the presence of staph "sample contamination". The stringy things and particles are most likely pieces of biofilm breaking off. I am not saying you have staph but it definitely sounds like biofilm and staph epidermidis is a huge biofilm producer.

I know your post is old but if you get this, look into candida. If you Google it you'll be amazed. Also, if you have vaginal thrush and your husband is not treated fot it he will continously pass it back to you. He will most likely have no symptoms, however.
