HI. I'm 47 years old male and I was wondering could anyone help with one problem.
What can I say about my self accept the fact that my life habits were not the best they could be. For a long time I had problem with alcohol abuse and now I'm living with consequences.
About a year ago I was diagnosed with diabetes and taking insulin since then. But about four days ago I felt strong pain in my right upper abdomen. I contacted my doctor and he sent me to do some ferritin levels test. Why do I need this test?

I can help you with some information about this type of test. This is a test to measure the amount of ferritin in the blood and ferritin is carrier of iron in blood so this test is measures the amount of iron in the body. Iron is important for red blood cell production.
The pain you felt is probably caused by damaged liver, probably with alcohol.
Any inflammatory disorder can raise the ferritin level.
Higher-than-normal levels may indicate to alcoholic liver disease or hemochromatosis and hemolytic anemia.
I hope these informations could help you to understand better the tests you’re going to do!
