I'm due to get both procedures done at the same time, in the Dr's office. They are giving me valume and something for pain during the procedures, is this normal to be awake during this?

Hello Breanna
Tubal ligation and ablation is done using spinal anesthesia and a very small incision is made on the side or near the navel - an instrument known as Laproscope then allows access to the Fallopian tubes - of course this means that anesthesia has taken effect. ONLY a part of abdomen is numb - so you won't feel painduring the procedure - you will be wide awake :)
You can always talk to your doctor who can explain it in a better way. I am sure he will answer all of your queries. Good luck
