I'm going on 16 months of intermittent pain r side under rib area- every test done - everything normal so frustrating / my md is starting to look at me like I'm making it up- days where all I want to do is ly down. My pain feels like a swelling or inflammation. No sharp pain - more like pressure pain. I'm seeing yet another MD next month. I've already had a hysterectomy and appendectomy with no pain relief. I'm so desperate I would agree to my gall bladder out too even though it is testing fine- so exhausted ...

I've had the same problem for about a year now. Getting pains all in one side of ribs starting bottom of ribs to near under arm pit and to the centre of chest. I went to a&e about it today and was told it was floating rib syndrome. I live in UK and was told they don't know much about it over here and operation isn't really an option. Hope this helps

Hello. This is my 1st post ever & I hope it helps you. I have been suffering from a floating rib for several years. Ironically, it was my cardiologist that told me what is was. I have so many other medical issues that I never mentioned it to my primary. It just happened to come up in conversation with my cardiologist one day & that's when everything made sense. I can fix mine, (i.e. put it back into place) myself. All I do is start pressing firmly on the lower rib area in the front - mine is on the left side. I can actually feel the relief of it going back in. Sometimes it's kind of stubborn & it takes a bit, but it does eventually go. Once in a while I have to work it in from the back. At times I can feel it hitting another rib, other times it feels like I've been kicked, and other times I can't take a full breath. Once I get it back in place ALL of these symptoms IMMEDIATELY disappear - until it pops out again. I wish you luck & good health.

my daughter has had alot of pain, and sick to her stomach. She has been in and out of the drs, every test you can imagine, and when she had to get a sports physical for school, they said she had floating rib syndrome. I am wondering if anyone has been sick to their stomach after they eat ?
