Hi, I have just read your posts and I too have the same problem. When I sleep at night I get woken up by excruciating pain in my stomach, which lasts for hours. If anyone finds out what could be causing it can you contact me?
I have had lots of tests but they say everything's clear except my lymph nodes are swollen, I am waiting for more scans. If I find out what causes the bloating and pain when I lie down I will re-post.
Take care

Hello, i have symptoms as you all described.... The common factot is sleeping..... I think i may have a logical explaination for our problem..... Too much air is entering our stomatch while sleeping.... Probably by open mouth or some defective lock off mechanism to the stomatch that prevents air from entering it and which only allow air into the lungs..... If there is a doctor reading this then look into my suggestion and recomend a cure or treatment please.....

Has anyone found any cure for himself?

Do you all have the same symptoms? You just started sleeping badly after realizing that when you lay down you get abdominal pain, you get bloated and the pain gets worse when you're lying.

I've been suffering from this for the past 3 years, I haven't found a cure. I'm now starting on doing some sports as I believe that the fat around by stomach is making this worse.

If you all have the same issue, I think we should all talk together about this and see if we can find an idea (even over the phone/emails/skype). I can't post an email address here because it will be removed, but I opened a google group, ask to join if you have an idea!

I have found out what is wrong with me, it as taken over a year and many tests and complaining to the doctors.
I have just been diagnosed with a un common form of cancer in my pancreas called a nuroendocrine tumour. I will be going in hospital in a few days for more tests.
What ever your problem, if you feel as if the doctors have got it wrong ask for more in depth tests just to be safe.

I just wanted to reply to the person who tested positive for candida but didn't respond to Nystatin. It took a long time for the overgrowth of candida to knock off your good (probiotics) bacteria. After 40 yrs I finally used common sense and started taking probiotic supplements and stopped gluten. It took 3 months for my gut to balance out and knock back the candida. Most important is lower your sugar and alcohol intake or that yeast will start throwing parties again. Stay on probiotics. They won't hurt you, ever. I hope you feel better. BTW, I don't feel like gluten free dieting made any difference.

I have had the same problem for a few weeks now my doctor said I most likely have a hiatal hernia. I am going for a full work up blood test this week to check for everything specifically h. Pylori. I found online that vitamin E can help peptic ulcers so I bought it in liquid form for around $20 at a health food store and it seems to be helping my doctor also said do not eat three hours before bed. I would have to wait around two yrs for an endoscope so that is not an option. But my dr said an ulcer or a hernia is my best option. My pain is generally right below my ribs in the middle and I feel fine during the day. I have been taking a generic form of zantac as well that is helping.

Hey, thanks for commenting.
This whole year - the pain didn't get any worse? And how did they find it? Did it not come up in CTs?

Hey,
Thanks for commenting. Did you have the same pain the entire year? Or did it get any worse?
How did they find your tumor? Did the CT not show it?

Thanks!

So you feel that your problem was only the Candida, and that the gluten free diet didn't help?

I've always had this ever since I remember. I get the stomach pain after I have been resting (awake or asleep) at any sort of angle that is not completely upright. It's a strange stomach ache, feels like my stomach has 'settled' at the wrong angle and has to adjust, resulting in wind most of the time. This is only in the daytime though. I don't get these cramps in mornings and when I have them they usually last about an hour then go away. I avoid sleeping or lying down after a meal no matter how tired I am because once after a stomach bug I tried it and had really bad stomach cramps, which resulted in my vomiting a few hours later. I presume it's acid reflux, and I haven't found anything I can really do about it other than not having naps, or if I do get it remain upright and maybe go for a walk or something?

I also have this exact problem! I am gluten intolerant and generally avoid gluten, but there does not seem to be a direct correlation between what I have eaten. It can happen even when I have eaten the healthiest meals possible. After reading your post and the other replies I have decided to simply not lay down during the day! It is not worth it. And I will continue to work on my other health problems

I have had stomach bloating bouts since childhood. I used to bring it on as a trick for my friends., lol. It only happens when I lay or sit slightly twisted. If I then lay down, particularly with my knees up, the gas releases. In fact I am laying down now. I don't eat wheat and found I had few symptoms when I was raw vegan. Personally, I think it is a combination of diet and a twist in my bowel. The lower my weight, the less frequent the symptoms. My diet is mostly raw now which helps but any twisting still brings it on ... except during intercourse or while doing yoga ... go figure!
