Hello. I'm 38 year old male and I'm very worried about my good friend. You see, about two years ago his wife has left him and run away with some younger man. He has after it find out that she has been cheating on him for months before it. All this made him very depressed and he started to drink more and more. With time- he has turned into a real alcoholic.
After almost two years of every day drinking he has decided to change something and quit drinking. Supposedly, someone gave recommended him some Acamprosate drug and wanted from me to find out more about this drug. Can anyone help me?

I'm very sorry about your friend and his awful habit but I'm in a same time glad that he decided to stop with it and search for help.
I have read several good stuff about this new drug on the market you’ve mentioned which main purpose is to help alcoholics maintain abstinence by preventing relapse until adequate self-motivation for abstinence has been established.
It is very good drug, and, although it still isn’t approved in USA by FDA, clinical trials and use in Europe indicate that it is very effective. Like all other drugs, it can cause some side effects such as diarrhea, dyspepsia (indigestion), headache, nausea and vomiting, rash and itching.
