Suboxen is a life saver! I have been out of Rehab and detoxing for 5 days and have lowered my Suboxen to 4 mg a day, sometimes 2mg... There have been no withdrawls and my body feels great. It also will keep you clear minded and allow you to do all your daily activities. PLEASE, anyone who is thinking about quiting opiods go the Suboxen route... It will save your life!

Thank you man, I have been in the clinic twice. Went back to the streets after trying to detox the first time. I am afraid to leave the clinic for suboxone but... I've tried cleaning up myself from many different opiods, trying one to get off the other. I am hoping this will be the easiest withdrawal. I will start tapering off the done soon, down to 30 mgs. take a day off then start taking the suboxone. I have been dependant for about 10 yrs. I want to be free!!

Hi, This is sunrise. I am switching from methadone to suboxone. They said I could take 30 mgs. methadone in the morning and take suboxone in the afternoon!!! I think I will take a day off in between. I don't really want to go any lower than 30 or go more than a day in between cuz' I also know what it feels like to w/draw from many an opiate and it SUX!!! I'm hoping you are right about the Suboxone I have been an addict to everything siice I was a teen. I even had to leave my relationship because I get addicted to them too. I need to be INdependant instead of DEpendant. It feels good!! To be somewhat in control. Also taking Lexapro for depression. Hope that isin't an issue. Tips? dawnsunrisemarie at yahoo

! Don't be fooled! Suboxone WILL help you kick oxys or heroin but if you stay on the suboxone more than ten days you WILL be sick from SOBOXONE!, but not as bad. Youn need to cut down to NO MORE than 1mg suboxone for 3-4 days. Better if the doc can cut you to a quarter mb the last two days before stopping. But be prepaired to be sick AND tired for a little while.
I found zanax to be of great help when going through the bad-bad third day.
I know what I'm talking about, I was part of the original study at Meclean Hospital years ago.

Good luck..again, the KEY is to be down as loss as possible mg-wise before stopping.

Suboxone is NOT a miracle drug!! I was on a large dose of methadone (300 mg.day) for over 2 years and was switched to Suboxone. The switch alone was difficult as I had to go on morphine first to get the methadone out of my system. Once I did that (about 3 weeks on morphine) I stopped taking morphine for a couple days and started taking suboxone (this is how my DR. told me to do it). I spent about 5 days in withdrawals as the suboxone slowly started taking the place of the morphine in my opiate receptors. Now that I'm on suboxone I feel better. I've tapered down from 32mg/day to about 8mg/day. I've been on the Suboxone for over 3 months. Other people that I have talked to tell me that I can't quit now...that I need to keep tapering SLOWLY until I'm down to 0.5mg/day. People who have quit taking Suboxone at any dose higher than 4mg/day have suffered weeks of withdrawals (16 days being a typical withdrawal period).

If you simply want to switch drugs than Suboxone might be better than Methadone. If you want to get off drugs altogether than make sure you have a Dr. who is VERY experienced in opiate detox and knows Suboxone very well.

Believe me. There are withdrawals off of Suboxone. From what I've heard they're worse than most other opiate withdrawals.

If you didn't experience any withdrawals from Suboxone then PLEASE tell me how you did it?

I have been snorting OC illegally for over 6 months now for everyday. Before it used to be for recreation. Now I have to do it just to function. The WD's are horrible. I need to get help. I heard methadone helps. My friend used to bang OCs and Heroine and was on methadone for 3 years until he finally got off. He said that tapering it was uncomfortable yet doable. I am trying to find what would be the best way. I hate the WD feelings esp when you can not find any pills. I do not know if I can go Cold Turkey. If you are a opiate addict then you know what im talking about. all you can think about is the next fix just to take you out of your misery. plus the drain in your pocket is ridiculous. spening thousands of dollars a month for a nasty habit. my friend tells me SUBOXENE is the way to go. you can visit a doctor who will prescribe it to you. better than methadone clinic because if you become a patient there you will be on all kinds of federal records. try getting a job with a methadone rap sheet in your resume. not going to happen. i have been reading up on suboxene online. i read the good, the bad, and the ugly. some people say that its a wonder drug. some say its just a replacement drug. some say you get withdrawls. some dont. so i came to a conclusion. if the purpose of these drugs is to help you and to get off of it ultimatly by weaning off from it is the goal, then why not just wean off of the drug you are addicted to at this moment. For instance, people who get prescibed OC legally is destined to be depended on it. docters will tell them that they have to wean off it. so this is what i plan to do. it is going to be a month process. i am going to wean myself 10 mg every week. for example, start with 80 mg a day for a week. then 70 for a week. 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5 then off. I have calculated the price for this. if you are paying street price then you will be looking at around 1500 bucks. the problem here is that OCs are not available any time you need it. if that was the cause, then it would be easy to get off. well, i hope everyone finds a way to get off of this nasty habit anyway they can. we are digging our own grave. we lost all control of our lives. we need to keep ourself motivated to stop by keeping certain thoughts in mind. think about your financial mess. working hard to get paid and to spend all your income on a phucken pill is not worth it. think about your life. is this what your life has become? what happened to your dreams? success? think about the people you hurt. the lies you tell. the lies you tell to yourself. think about all those phucking dope heads you would never associate yourself with that you are associcating with at this moment. just take a good look at them. is that what you want to become? they are the living proof of what hell on earth is. what would your parents think? imagine how much greif and pain you will cause them. they will probably have a heart attack or a strok. man its not worth it. you have to take the first step and tell yourself you have a problem. cold turkey sounds scary. but if you have a week go through with the struggle. life is a beautiful struggle. you will be thankful in the end. to those who never messed with opiates, dont make it a habit. its not fun in the end. you are asking for a cruel awakening. to those in my position, keep your head up. your not alone. REMEMBER it is greener on the other side of the field. there is sunshine after the rain. BE STRONG! WAKE UP! keep the ones you love close and try to help them too. dont leave your friends behind. we are all being tested by God to become ANGELS. best wishes.... no luck in this line of life. and may God Bless

This is absolute bull, if you have been on suboxone for any period of time and tried to quit you know that there are withdrawls similar to that of heroin, however, the drug is alot less than heroin and much more preferrable. Any opiate based replacement or drug is going to give you some amount of withdrawl, however, with suboxone they come in 8mg tabs and 2mg tabs, the 8's are scored for easy splitting. Usually 2-3 8's per day to start and over the periosd of months they cut you down a couple mg's at a time. Like i said the drug is good and helps a lot with everything, you will have irratability if cold turkey off suboxone as well as mild diareah, upset stomach, lack of motivation, feeling a little down, and even depression. But it is def. alot better than heroin or methadone.

Is suboxen the one that has nalaxone in it, or is that subutex? Whichever has the nalaxone you should not start taking until you are in withdrawals. The reason is nalaxone in effect puts you in withdrawals if you are not already there. The pain lasted about 45 minutes, then I was fine. I fully detoxed off a hard-core heroin habit in 7 days using suboxen, and could function at work during those 7 days. It's a friggin miracle drug if you ask me.
