i myself have been using opiates for about 2 years now... started out with the oxys for recreation.. always heard the term hillbilly heroin and synthetic heroin etc and didnt actually think it was as bad as heroin... but obviously it is heroin in its purest form. no cut. no nothing but pure drug... i first started popping them and always thought id never snort anything let alone EVER stick a needle in my arm.. but before long i tryed snorting one. and it was great. and not only that but because they are so expensive on the streets it was more cost effective to snort them cause i could do less to get high...
well before long i started getting sick from withdrawal... and the first few times it happend i didnt even know it was from opiate withdrawal! i thought i just got the flu. untill the coincidense of it happening everytime id run out became obvious that i was dependant...
ive tryed quiting so many times. and im just not strong enough to handle the withdrawal... i got up to taking about 80 mgs a day. (100-120$ a days worth where i live anyway) and finally got the urge to try shooting them up... and i had a hell of a time actually shooting it up.. i sat there for a good half hour trying to get the courage to get it in my vein. and once i finally did i didnt really notice much of a difference... so i went back to snorting them. untill i finally realized buying REAL heroin is literally 10 times cheaper and more bang for your buck... and once i got that first rush of getting a good vein shot of heroin i had no fear of needles anymore. i did heroin for about 6 months and came off it using vicodins 2 or 3 times but always relapsed... when i lost my heroin hook i went back to oxys but my tolerance was so high from doing heroin i had to shoot 2 to 3 80mgs a day..
i finally found a friend who could hook up suboxone for 10$ a piece for 8mgs.. i had read about on forums such as these and tryed to get from a doctor many time but without insurance im pretty much screwed...
so i would start the first day of withdawal with only one 8mg... which may suprise some of you i could start at such a low dosage... i didnt feel great by anymeans but i could atleast function at work and sleep reletivly well on it.. then after a day or so id start weening myself down and after a week or so i could take about 2mg in the morning and 2 at night and be just fine... then a few days later i was down to taking tiny chunks one in the am on in the pm and then a few days later i was down to taking just the dust from breaking them in halfs... i thought for sure id have little to no withdrawal when i ran out of the 30 pills i had.... but i was wrong.. theres still withdrawal even taking less than a mg a day.. granted the withdrawal was minor... but still f*****g sucked... super lethargic, depressed, bad diarhea, insomnia, restless legs runny nose. everything....
i made it a month with no opiates.. and relapsed 2 weeks ago with the oxys again.. and am going through withdrawal again... i came up on some vicodins that are helping me a little but i know im just prolonging the inevitable...
i guess my point to this very long post is that you will withdrawal no matter
what... opiates are the best and the worst...
remember for every high there is an equal low.
good luck to anyone trying to conquer this horrible disease

I'm in my 4th month of withdrawing from Sub. Worst drug I've ever kicked!! I was on 16mg for 3 years. $400 a month for Sub. I just wanted to get off of it. It took me at least 3 months to start to feel "normal". I'll never take it again!! Of course I hope I never take opiates again. Nothings for sure, and that's for sure.

I do not want to discourage someone from making a step towards sobriety- but you should be warned. Suboxone is not a cure. It is an alternative. Yes. you may get back some normalcy in your life as you will no longer be hunting all the time, but you may be making the problem worse. Suboxone withdrawals are LONG LONG LONG. Forget what their corporate website says- It is B.S. - 48 hrs and you are just getting started.....
Don't think five days and better - think 7 ugly days and week + of very minor improvements with ups and downs. It has not been easy and I was neither a long term suboxone user or especially heavy user. Max was 8mlgs - worked down to 2 mlgs. over 90 days- I will admit the end was much more abrupt than it should have been. I can only think the less you take, the shorter the period----the better off you will be.
I regret alot of things. The Suboxone is just another item on the list. Think long and hard about it before taking Suboxone- to those around you it will seem like a magic cure - but the cost could be forever dependence or an even tougher recovery.
Good Luck People.

Hello Everyone
I have been taking suboxene for a while now. My addiction is vicodin. I am a former heroine user and went thru cold turkeys with that. Worst days ever. I have a question does sub. ever make any one else feel like they are on an opiot? :-P

Hey, I went through the same situation. Yes it sometimes felt that way to me also. Suboxone is actually an opiod. i will tell you this though, the withdrawls are nowhere near as bad as long as u come off the subs gradually.

i came off of oxycontin 6- 80mg/day and 6- 15mg/day in a treatment center. they took me from 60 mg to about 20 mg when i got pissed because they hadnt started suboxen therapy. i went from 20 mg on thurs then 10mg fri then sat at 4:00pm i got 6 mg of suboxen. then 2mg 3times/day. was increased subtley to 8 mg 2times/ day. im not nor did i suffer from withdrawal symptoms i couldnt handle. it was worse coming off of OC to meth. i am on these meds for pain and the suboxen does help me tolerate pain. also i dont feel stoned like i used to. i love it. anyone who wants to revive their life and regain control of themselves, suboxen is a great start. therapy, stress treatment, exercise etc. has helped me also. good luck

SUBOXONE DOES HAVE A WITHDRAW. IT IS SLEEPLESSNESS AND CHILLS. IN NO WAY THE SYM'S YOU FEEL FROM NARCO OR DRUG WITHDRAW THEMSELVES. THE DRUG WORKS, BUT YOU WILL FEEL WITHDRAW, BUT IF YOU DO IT RIGHT IE WEEN YOURSELF OFF IT. YOU WILL FIND THAT THE WITHDRAW IS VERY MINOR.

I have been taking Suboxone for that last 3 years, starting on 16mg quickly moving to 8mg/day.
I slowly weaned myself to 2mg/day & then 1mg/day for 2 weeks.
Then jumped off......
Let no one kid you, these withdrawals are terrible!!
Epic restlessness at night being the worst. Not getting any sleep for days...
Plus every other WD in the book besides puking...
I went to my local Dr. & got some Xanax & Trazidone, which helps me get at least 4-5 hours of sleep. X = .5mg/night T = 50mg/night
I am now on day 4 with symptoms not getting better, but I WANT OUT...I have been taking these for too long pushing off the inevitable.
They were great in the since that I could take them & forget about OC's & H (snorting, never shot), and this has helped me loose almost all of the users I knew. Which is a critical step.
There is no easy way to get off, just wean to the lowest amount possible, then give it hell. I have found that I could not easily get below 1mg suboxone/day without feeling WD's.
I too have a heavy work load & motivation is far away....
I have thought about going back to the doctor & getting more subs, but I would be starting the cycle again....puking off the WD's again....
TOUGH IT OUT, it sucks..but it will get better.
There is no easy solution, no easy way out....

I am an alcoholic/drug addict with hiv. (great combination to staying sober). After reading through this forum I am going to start weaning down tomorrow and see what I can take. Suboxone is much better than oxys which I was snorting even after an A.A. meeting. I now can see why I have had such a long difficulty staying sober. I have stayed away from alcohol for 8 years and that is a killer to quit when I did. However the intensity of going off suboxone after a large dose (8mg tid). Pray for me. I know I will need them.

The person above who said that there is no withdrawal whatsoever from suboxone obviously has not gotten off it yet. Yes, there is withdrawal from suboxone and its not a pleasent time. Good thing is, that withdrawal peaks at about 36 hours after last dosage. Believe me I know its tough, but all you gots to do is try to sit in the tub all day if you can and I promise by tomorrow you'll feel like a new person. Off the record, if you can afford a 1/4 ounce of weed and a gram of hash you'll barely notice th fugly's.

i love the term "bruce lee's" thats a perfect description.
i'm just about to start my 8th day clean from sub. i was on sub about 6 months. before that tho i spent 5 years on methadone. before that i was on heroin/oxycontins. as much as i could afford that day. at the end i was snorting 1 to 1.5 grams of h a day.
1st day off was a piece of cake
2-4 day i was deffinatly having wd, but only very mild, no vomiting or diaria cha cha cha's
day 5-now, i feel fine. other than some restless legs.
i will say the worst thing for me is the restless leggs. i'm a carpet installer by trade. so my legs are my livelyhood. i have only slept about 3hours a day, since stopping sub. but i have felt ok enough to work everyday.
i dont want to write a book, but there is alot that needs said on this topic.
when i first started on methadone, i started at 30mgs. quickly dropped to 10mgs and stayed at 10mgs for 4 years. no i never felt high, i just fealt normal. as much as i fealt normal, it was all masked from the methadone.
when i went onto the sub, i was on 2mg 2xa day. i was only given enough for a 2 week taper, but i stretched them out as long as i could. i had got down to about 1mg when i ran out. i still had this terrible fear of wd after 2 days of running out. so i found an alternet source of subs.
over the next 5 months i got down to 1 8mg pill lasting me 14-16 days. then jumped off 8 daqys ago.
about 4 years ago, i quit smoking pot. before that i was a big pot head. but a few days before i quit the subs i started smoking again. i think that helps alot with the wd's. it helps dull the wd pain, and is just plain fun getting stoned, and remembering the stupidity of youth. i know i'm probably trading one thing for another. but pot is a whole lot better than the alternative.

Suboxone will help however, withdrawals will be the same. Don't let anyone tell you it's easy or that this is the "magic pill." It's great if you need it but withdrawals will be difficult. When you’re ready to stop using, ask your doctor for Valium and Klonopin. The Valium will help with sleep and the Klonopin will lower your blood pressure which will relieve some of the joint pain! Best of luck and stay focused on what you need to accomplish. You will be successful!!
