Several months ago I was diagnosed with depression. To be honest I cannot say exactly when I started to feel depressed, I guess it worked its way up slowly. Afterwards, I have felt enormous sorrow, insomnia was there, loss of appetite and finally, suicidal thoughts came. I went to the doctor and started with psychiatric sessions. I was also prescribed with Amitriptylin. I started taking it couple of weeks ago but I do not feel any improvement. Will there be any improvement?
Amitriptylin is a medication that belongs to a group of tricyclic antidepressants. Its positive effects could be seen only after 2 or three weeks of constant therapy, so be patient. These drugs function by increasing level of serotonin in blood, thus activating a good mood, removing fear, anxieties, panic attacks. Of course, if nothing happens after that period, that is a clear sign for you that the therapy was not successful and that it should be changed.

My monthly periods are only about two weeks apart and lasting longer since I started taking Amitriptylin. Is this normal?
