Anyone used Ortho K lenses?

This problem with halos and night flare and poor vision could be as a result of the lenses not sitting centrally over you pupil. It may mean that the lenses need a tweak in their design and remade. This sometimes happens as the degree of accuracy we are talking is lees than a hairs width. If you had laser surgery they would have to repeat the procedure and getting this accuracy is difficult. Luckily with overnight correction contact lenses you can simply make new ones! This problem can also occur if you have over large pupils. Go back to the optician it will be immediately obvious to them if this is the problem when they do the mapping of your eye.

To anyone with a small child using Ortho-k lenses, I am considering this option for my 7 year old who I just discovered is -3.00 in both eyes. Would you recommend it? I am very nervous about the whole thing as its only become popular in recent years and no long history of it.  Appreciate some feedback. Thx

I'm a little late on commenting but I must say that i had those lenses for 7 years..! during all this time my number (in the eyes..) only grew by one number! Those lenses help that your number won't be so high. Just wanted to add that, if you're still thinkin of purchasing it for your sister

I have used it fo rover four years and they work exceptional. They do indeed give to extremely good eyesught for a day, ven up to three days.

Hi. Thanks for all of your comments on this Ortho K. I had started my 9 year old girl on the program since June this year. It's been 1 and half month and she's reponding well to it except some occasional complaint of pain and irritation. The power for her both eyes are 550 and astigmatism of 125 in each eyes.

My only concern is that she also complaints of blur vision when she look to the side. She has no problem when she's looking straight ahead. But when she turn the pupil to the side of the eyes and try to look to the side and the vision is blur. I had asked her optrometrist before and she said that that's because the treatment zone for such high power is narrower thus it causes blur vision at the side.

Is this normal? Does anyone of you experience this problem with ortho k?

I did my Ortho-k at an eye care clinic in serene centre, singapore. The clinic was recommended by my friend whose kids are using orthok and so far, am amazed by the effects of Orthok! I have about 850 degs of myopia in each eye and my eyes were getting soooo dry from my contact lenses. The service there is fantastic and all my follow-up treatments are free, as they stress on delivering optimum results, they changed my lenses multiple times till my vision was perfect! I have been using Orthok for a few months now and i don't think i will ever return to using contacts. It's a great alternative for those of us who can't do LASIK because our myopia is too high.

My two sons have used ortho-k for 15 yrs and have 20/20 vision - they've never owned a pair of glasses nor have had surgery. Their vision otherwise would be 20/200 like their dad and two older 1/2 brothers.

Hi. I've used ortho k since I was 14 years old and have nothing but great things to say. I had a great experience with it. My vision is corrected. It's a little uncomfortable when you first put them on because your eyes are getting used to them. One thing to note is that your sister needs to take care of those contacts very well. If you don't, the shape can change and cause eye pain. Best of luck.
