My daughter has been using ortho-K lenses for 2 1/2 years since 7 1/2 year old in US East Coast. I am a vigilant mother who takes care of her lenses and watched her putting them on and taking them out! Cleanliness and a good lenses design are crucial! Lenses should NOT move out of your cornea to the Sclera!!!! At the beginning of the fitting, mother can help put the lenses on for the child before bedtime; in our case, my brave 7 1/2 old was trained by a specialist to put them on herself. She mastered the technique after 1 month of use. At the beginning, they were a bit uncomfortable (maybe itchy little), and please make sure no LINT get into the lenses, otherwise irritation will result. It happened on my child on the 3rd night, so we stopped drying hands using tissue nor towel, just air dry:) My child had kind of double vision at the first couple of month because the CRT lenses were not a good fit (centration issue); eye Dr later switched her to a different brand of ortho-K lenses (WAVE) and she was fine then. She can see 20/20 whole day. During the past two years, her progression was stabilized. She remained at -3.5. She did have a couple of minor eye infection on her eyelid (once a year)-In both cases, her eyelid swelled a bit (one eye) and a little pain when blinking, cornea was fine each time! She is in puberty and she had a couple time of clog pores on her upper eyelids, and warm compress and baby soap eyelid cleaning worked well. Overall, it is effective in arresting myopia progression if the design of the lenses are good. But there is risk of irritation, infection etc!

Been wearing the lenses for 9 years since 11 years old with 500+ degree in both left and right eye. Stopped these lenses in 2011 and my myopia remained at 200 for 2 years and went up to 300 these 2 years. Still, great lenses which controlled my fast increasing myopia when I was younger and even lessened it :)

Make sure your son WASHES his hands thoroughly with soap before handling them as there is a high risk of infection from wearing these contacts overnight. The infection can be very severe and require surgery with ongoing problems arising from that for the rest of his life.

If you are 25 you should think about lazer eye surgery. It's permanent and these days very safe

I bought it from eye D and it cost about 1400 to 1600 dollars at first and 500 dollars for every year after that.

I also wear ortho K and I gave up trying to take them out myself. I went to my eye doctor and bought a eye plunger, it works beautifully.

Hey there! I've been using ortho k for more than a year now. A negative side effect I am experiencing is that the lenses sometimes irritate my eyes. After I don't wear them for a few days, my eyes go back to being blurry, but my prescription hasn't grown a lot.
Hope this helped!

I'm on my third week and it's much better. The first 3 days were bad, and the first week night driving was bad, but I am seeing well now. I wear them for a minimum of 8 hours each night.
