I just got eye braces for my 13 year old daughter. Except mine is called "AOK" eye braces so im not sure if its just another name for it. But its been a week and my daughters eyesight hasn't improved. Occasionally she wakes up with one eye about 20/40 and the other eye was still blurry. And even sometimes she'll wake up having no change in both of her eyes. I'm just wondering what's happening and when will the effects start kicking in? Leave me a feedback thanks

Update to my earlier status. I've now been wearing ortho-k lenses for over a month and my vision is crystal clear. The adjustment took some time but I'm so glad I decided this. Highly recommend Dr. Nguyen in Brooklyn

I started using Ortho-K lenses the 22 of December 2015. After a month using them I was still unable to see correctly and I had to come back to the doctor to see what was going on. At first I had -5.25 of myopia in each eye and 0.20 of astigmatism, than after using Ortho-K lenses for a month, my view stopped correcting at -2.00 of myopia and had more than 4... of astigmatism in each eye.

The doctor took a look in lenses and it look like everything was ok with them so i had to stop using them for a week (after a week everything went back to normal). Now I'm using them again (5 days) and it look like the issues is happening again.

I work with computers and for the last month and an half it have been difficult to work since my vision it's not stable at all.

I think my eyes are not accepting the lenses and the doctor didn't even know those side effects . Tomorrow I will do more exams and I'm not feeling confident at all

Hello again,

Last friday I went to the doctor again to see how things were going, At that time, I had -2.75 of myopia in each eye and 0.25 of astigmatism too. The correction was going slow this time but at least in the right path..

That what we thought (me and the doctor), that night I slept 16 hours with the ortho k lenses and went to the doctor again and I had bad news again:

- My left eye was with -0.25 of myopia (actually pretty cool) but with 2.75 of astigmatism
- My right eye was still with -2.75 of myopia and 1.50 of astigmatism (16 hours of sleep did correct a thing)

Today is Thursday, I feel that my right eye ,since friday, didn't change a thing and can't understand what is going on with my left eye ( I think have more or less -2.00 of myopia in that eye now).

Little information, I normally sleep between 6 to 7 hours per day with the lenses, only on weekends I'm able to extend the time.

Saturday I'm going to my doctor to see what is going on and really thinking of asking my money back... 900 euros is a lot of money for something who doesn't work properly and already gave me a lot of headaches

It's normal for this to happen in the first week or two, depending on how many degrees your eyes are. I'm currently trying out ortho k lenses and my vision is pretty blurry, since both my eyes are -5.5 degrees so it takes some time for it to adjust. (They're still adjusting- it's only been a couple of days) However even though it's blurry i did sense some kind of improvement, I can see further away except it's just not as clear and a little blurry. However, if you have some sense that something is actually wrong and that it's blurry with absolutely no improvement, you should stop wearing them immediately and go to your optometrist as soon as possible.

Hey, i've been using ortho-k for about a year now, however i am constantly left with distorted/blurry vision in either 1 or boths eyes. I am sure this is probably because i naturally sleep on my side which may cause the lens to shift but it happens so often and become really quite irritating especially when trying to read textbooks.

- just a heads up

I just wanted to add to your comment and note how frustrating it is when you wake up and one eye is blurry (and there is nothing that you can do to correct it , except wait).

I have been using ortho-K for 12 years with much success but there are days when the lenses (in both eyes fail)

I've been using Ortho K lenses for 7 years but had to stop recently due to having developed problems in my left eye. I think the pressure my cornea was under for so many years has perhaps traumatized it.
