I think that Olia has good point here and that they are good friends because they can talk about their problem and how to deal with it in the best way. We girls somehow always feel safer when we have someone to talk about our problems and this fact we find out when we hit puberty. So don’t be surprised that your friends are so close, and I just presume that there is more to it than just sharing problems because they have the same disease.
And I can only confirm what Olia has already said, kidney infections are not contagious and you will not get sick if you continue to be good friend with both of the girls.
