Hello there.

So, in all those tests and analysis that I needed to do, my doctor also told me that I need to do cardiac stress test. But I was also sure that he told me that beside this cardiac stress test, I need to do nuclear stress test as well. I mean, I don't need to do but it is recommended.

I was thinking that this is the same thing, but now I can see that there are some possible differences between them. Can you tell me are there any differences between nuclear and cardiac stress test?

Thank you!

Good day there La YI La.

Nuclear stress test usually measures blood flow to your heart at rest and while your heart is working harder. That can be a result of the exertion or medication, and very rare result of something else such is stress. This test provides images that can show areas of low blood flow through the heart and damaged heart muscle.

On the other side, cardiac stress test can be used to test for some possible heart disease. Stress tests are tests performed by a doctor or trained technician to determine the amount of stress that your heart endures.

Hi everyone.
They are pretty much the same. It is very important that once you decide to have this stress test – nuclear or cardio, it doesn’t matter, you need to know what you should expect and when. So, before you start the test, a technician inserts an intravenous line into your arm. After that, he will place a sticky patches or electrodes on your chest, legs and arms. They are connect by wires to an electrocardiogram machine. The electrocardiogram records the electrical signals that trigger your heartbeats. A cuff on your arm checks your blood pressure during the test.
Those tests don’t have so many differences – they will show some heart results very soon.

Hey there.

Now I have the clear picture of those two terms. You know what else I want to know; ok they are pretty much the same but I want to know which one is better? For example, if I ever need to choose between nuclear and cardiac stress test, which one I should chose and why?

One is better for what? You know what I mean. I am sometimes against those tests but if they are so helpful, than I believe that everyone should use it.

If you have any information about this - which test is better, please let me know.
