Hi, I am 32 years old male and I visited my doctor last week because I felt irregular heart beats. After examination doctor told me that I have PVC premature ventricular contraction and that I would take atenolol. I am taking it for 5 days already and I feel worse that before when I didn't take it. I would like to know if it is possible that atenolol even may cause PVC.

Hi, nature of PVC may be different. You may have it with fast heart rate or with slower. As atenolol is beta blocker it slows down heart rate and if you already had slow heart rate it may cause you to feel worse. I suggest you to wait for day or two and if nothing change go to visit your doctor again and told him about effects of atenolol.
