I have late-stage osteonecrosis (or AV) in my right foot. My only option at this point is a bone fusion of the ankle/foot bones. Does anyone have any knowledge of this and my main concern is the recovery period. After managing for more years than I can remember I had stepped down and am glad I did however, I now work on my feet. Have any idea as to the amount of down time I will have to deal with as the fusion will be on a weight bearing joint?

For ANYONE diagnosed with avascular necrosis, please look up the research from Dr. Glueck at the Cincinnati Jewish Hospital. I was diagnosed with 6 locations, most stage 3 because of a doctor overdosing me on steroids via epidural. I injected twice a day with Lovenox blood thinner for 6 months. I am out of a wheelchair...I have had no surgeries...I have new bone growth in all areas and some cannot even be seen now on MRI. Bloodthinners ARE the cure for AVN. Please research yourself! No one would prescribe this treatment for me...so I ordered it with a fake prescription from Canada. Now all the doctors who told me my case was dire and needed multiple surgeries have to eat crow---and best of all-I am alive and well!
