In the gym I do a routine of military press but looking around, I have noticed that some builders are doing it over the shoulder area. My coach told me that it is the wrong way to do bench but without any explanation. Can anybody tell me a reason for that?

People who do a lot of workout at or above shoulder area are more vulnerable in that location. On the backside of the shoulder are two small muscles (infraspinatus and teres minor) which can no contribute o a strong pectoralis at front. In that sense, long-term or overloaded workout above shoulder area can cause injury of shoulder joint permanently.
