I had a LEEP about 10 weeks ago. High Grade Dysplasia, CIN II.I waited 5 weeks after the doctor cleared me to have sex. At 3 weeks I had bacterial vaginosis and was treated with an antibiotic. Then I got a yeast infection from the antibiotic. So at five weeks I had sex, and bled afterwards. I continued for about a week or so, ( I thought it would stop after a while), then stopped having for two weeks to see if it would help heal. Then I had sex and I still had some bleeding afterward. It only lasts a few hours (spotting). Now i am at ten weeks and want to know if I should wait til my three month checkup, which is about two weeks away? My doc says they don't know and just set me up for a three month pap. Now, I feel fine, no pain, but could there be a problem with my cervix since I didnt wait? I have to wait 2 weeks for the pap, and 3-4 more for the results!

I am glad I founf this site. I had the LEEP procedure in Nov 2003, and since then I have experienced bleeding ocassionally after sex since then. I have gone to my followup visits and all my paps have been negative. Anyone else out there still spotting after sex who has had a LEEP that long ago?

I have had two LEEP procedures done now and have never bled so much as a drop afterwards, including during/after sex. I pop a Vicodine about a half hour before the surgery and I'm good to go. I'm a little uncomfortable later, but I've had periods that have been worse than the LEEP. NO big deal!

I had a LEEP in 2004 and now in 2008 I all of the sudden have had bleeding after sex. Bleeding has lasted from 1-3 days after intercourse. I went to my doctor after the first incident and my doctor did a pap which was normal. She said bleeding after a LEEP is normal. My question is, why would I start bleeding more after 4 years of not bleeding with sex? Seems all of the sudden and weird. I'm a bit worried but my doctor seems unconcerned.

After reading all the posts, I'm starting to get a bit upset. I have fertility issues and I desperately want to get pregnant. I started visiting doctors 4 months to get prepared for starting fertility treatments. Unfortunately during that time my colposcopy came back and I was recommended for LEEP. I decided to wait 6 months to see if I could get pregnant now. My husband would be deploying in 6 months so I figured if I didn't get pregnant by the time he left, then I could get the LEEP done. So when I went back to my doctor a few weeks ago to do the fertility med's, he completely guilt-tripped me into doing the LEEP right away. I told him that I thought I would have to wait 6 months after a LEEP to get pregnant and I didn't want to wait that long. He said that wasn't true and that I only had to wait 4 weeks of no sex and then I could start with the fertility med's. So I agreed and my LEEP is scheduled for tomorrow. Now you all are saying that you bleed for weeks and you bleed after intercourse and now I'm freaking out!! I'm 27 and my husband is usually deployed 6 months out of the year, I don't want to have to wait another year to try fertility med's! Any suggestions?

I had the Leep this past tuesday and now it is Friday. I feel the bleeding gets heavier as the time goes. I feel that my doctor didn't really provide any information what so ever. I still feel as if I don't know exactly what is going on nor a clear picture of after symptoms of leep. This all makes me nervous :'(

Ladies,
I hear truths and exaggerations in many of these suggested remedies. What I know. .. I had the Leep procedure done 3 and a half weeks ago. The procedure itself was painless with the exception of a slight pinch from the needle. A chunk was removed (larger than I imagined - approx.1/2 inch diameter) and after leaving the office, mild cramping for a day or two. The discharge was brown/black with specks and did look a little like spilled coffee grounds, and though the smell was obvious (to me at any rate) it wasn't unpleasant enough to concern me with regards to an infection. All this I was told to expect from my doctor. In addition, I was told to wait 3 weeks before engaging in anything intrusive (tampons or sex) and no jacuzzi's, swimming, baths or heavy lifting or exercising for 3 weeks (minimum). Though I still had discharge I was curious if sex would be okay after the 3 weeks. My doctor advised the following: Exercise, swimming and baths are okay but if I am still discharging then I am still healing. Sex is probably okay IF done gently. Well, gently? What's gentle to one person might not be to another. The result? I began to bleed again after sex. It started with cramping and a steady flow as if I was beginning my period again (which I had just completed in my 3rd week of healing). My conclusion...I didn't give my body enough time to heal and now it's "hands off' until things get back to normal. My doctor warned me that bleeding might resume and if that was the case, to simply monitor my body's signals, be patient and unless there is extremes in anything (bleeding, scent, cramps, headaches, etc.) not to be too concerned. Has anyone else gotten similar advise?

I just had my LEEP procedure a week and a half ago. My doctor said no tampons for six weeks, and that I could have sex a few days after I stopped spotting. However, because my boyfriend cares more for my health than his pleasure, he declared a "hands off" time until after 6 weeks. I have noticed that after a more energetic work day, or a day where I lift my four year old son more I bleed along with the discharge. However, I do not have any noticeable pain or discomfort. My recommendation is that if you want to be healthy and stay healthy, give your body time to heal. The procedure is minor, but if you push things, or do more than your body can handle you will face greater risks to your health. Keep in mind this is still a surgical procedure, and you can't see where the healing area is or in what condition it might be in. Let your body heal, and if your partner truly loves you they will agree that your health is much more important. Besides, there are other ways to please each other without penetration, ladies. Try for a more creative intimacy.

I just had a leep done on Friday, June 26th. I took a pain pill before I went. I felt next to no pain during the procedure and virtually nothing after. My doctor recommended I wait 3-4 weeks before tampons/sex etc. However, I happen to really like sex with my boyfriend, so I decided to cheat. I hadn't had any discharge since 2 days after the leep so we had sex on Tuesday, June 30th. He was really gentle and pulled out to avoid the possible infection that the ejaculate might have caused. Again, pain free. I'm must just lucky though, because I sure didn't feel what some of the ladies on here did!
Its scary, but keep your chin up. You're doing something proactive to take care of yourselves! "This too shall pass" =0) Hang in there ladies.

I am a nurse and should know better but I decided to work four days after my surgery. It involved moving a patient whom I found to be quite light at 95 lbs. BIG MISTAKE. Started bleeding and it doesn't look like a period. I hope I heal in time for my trip to VEGAS!!! :?
